Nice homely spot, way good eats
The sign on the door says it all. “PERMANENTLY CLOSED”. It is sad that Durango has lost another landmark restaurant. In its final days, food and service became spotty — clearly due to understaffing. The current owner took over a little over a year ago, and began by doing much to freshen the place. But the place was hampered by mechanical problems, rising labor costs, and higher prices and shortages of supplies. The building itself has physical problems that would be very expensive to fix. Examples are a too small kitchen and the stairs down to the restrooms have treads that are too narrow. And it is understandable that the owner was unable to pay the current going rate for staff, behind $25+ per hour.
Granted, they were in the process of changing locations, but they should have closed. They were out of food, service was dismal and the was dirty. This was a popular restaurant and bar for decades in Durango. What happened?
Stopped on a Sunday evening. Seemed to be out of everything we tried to order. Food was just ok. Husband had a hamburger he said cooked right and was ok. I had a blt. Dry and not good.
Outside was cute inside horrible service took literally 3 hours man was about to cry food was not cooked at all I was about to puke me and my family were so ready to get out there the bathrooms were horrendous and like it was just so bad I am going full Karen mode like ugh and this is coming from a little kid lol please save yourself don’t goo
One of the worst places to eat on main, the menu is completely different and the service is very sub-par, the food tasted poor and they wouldn't give us dip for our appetizer. They didn't ask if me or my wife wanted a drink. When we would ask someone for help, they would walk away saying they would ask someone else. The wait for the food was very long as well. Very sad to see a local favorite go in this direction, DONT GO.
I found a great discount on meals and drinks on the internet, but upon arriving we learned the ad was expired. It really made our day when they went ahead and honored it, probably losing money in the process. Chantelle, our smiling, friendly server made our experience even better.
Generally dirty and gross, got seated, waited more than an hour for food, asked server if the kitchen had started our food, they hadn't, place was nearly empty. Paid for our drinks and left. Staff looked like they hadn't showered. Bathrooms were disgusting. Lived in the area 20 years, this place used to be good. Too bad.
