we stopped by for a friend’s birthday with a large party of 9, and the service was excellent. some folks at the table had never been to a tapas place, but Jon took his time explaining to everyone how it worked. I got to try the pig ear salad, papas bravada, gizzard tostada, chicken liver mousse, and mole toast. The liver was divine - I’ve never had sweet strawberries and crunchy sesame seeds paired with liver before but 10/10 would eat again. The mole black bean toast was also delicious, clean in flavors, and comforting. Also loved the pig ear salad with its dressing, my only desire is I’d want more of the crunchy pig ear because it’s so good! overall, amazing flavors, could even go a little bolder with the spice, but I know not everyone’s palate can handle that 😉 give the chocolate cake a try too. the tamarind caramel is very unique and absolutely worth it! i’m grateful we got to try it on the house because of my friend’s birthday. thank you oculto team!

The best meal I've had in Castro Valley. The tostada and papas bravas were incredibly satisfying. Chef Mike is incredibly talented and came out to talk about each dish as it came out. The service was impeccable.

Date night spot

Flavor explosion in your mouth. Really enjoyed the small plate selection especially the mousse with jam.

EVERY dish was delicious, start to finish. Staff explained each dish. Wonderful! Also, located upstairs of a super market. We were surprised!
