Northern China Eatery

I love going to Buford Hwy to eat because I love Asian food. I've been wanting to visit here since the buzz on social media. I arrived right after they opened. I was the second party seated. It's a small restaurant bit it's nicely decorated and very clean. All dishes are family style portions. We decided on an order of steamed dumplings which you can choose 3 diff kinds. We had the vegetable, pork and chive, and lamb. For pot stickers, we had pork shrimp and chive. We also had an order of salt and pepper shrimp, vegetable fried rice, and an appetizer that was cucumber, garlic, and cilantro that was in a hoisin, soy, sesame oil based sauce. Overall, the service was excellent. It didn't take long for the food to come out. Our servers were very nice and polite and even made suggestions when asked. All the food was fresh, hot, and very flavorful. I loved the potstickers and the fried rice. The steamed dumplings skin was a little thick for me, unlike the potstickers. They were just right. Overall I give them 2 thumbs up. If you plan on eating here come when they first open poor as early as possible. I've heard on weekends they have over an hour wait. It's still worth it imo. Parking: Parking lot is small in front and fills up fast

This is the place is you want some authentic Chinese food! I'm not talking about that combination plate that them so call other places serve! I ordered the soup dumplings and egg fried rice. The rice had a charred flavor that was out of this world! OMG! My GF had the shrimp pot stickers and the shrimp fried rice! The portions were plentiful! Even after sharing we still walked out with three full to go boxes of food! Also the place looks like a hole in the wall both on the inside and the outside! I walked in for a late lunch on Saturday and the place was packed! The aroma that was in the air was tantalizing! If you decide to go make sure you get there before 3:30pm cause they closes at 4 and will not reopen until 5pm! The food is amazing and well worth the trip! It was alright…. We were really disappointed. Came here because i’ve been wanting to try it for a while because of all the good things that i’ve heard. We got pork and cabbage dumplings, scallion pancakes and their stir fry thick noodles with beef. We got the dumplings and scallion pancakes pretty fast. They were good but nothing mind blowing. The scallion pancakes were on the chewier side than crispy. Our noodles took like 30+ mins. They definitely forgot. We asked about them once and she said “it’s coming” I heard her call for them with the chef and they didn’t make it. Waited again for another 15m when they realized it still wasn’t on our table and called for it AGAIN. When they came out it was piping hot but SUPERRRRR broken and crumbly. There wasn’t a whole noodle strand. All broken… It was also really wet, giant pieces of garlic and ginger and tons of sprouts. Overall really disappointed because I was expecting better, but it wasn’t the worst. Just over hyped is all.

Overall decent foods. Not sure what the rave about this place is about. Avoid the tianjin smoked chicken. It’s overcooked boiled chicken dipped in soy sauce.
