North County Wine Company

A complete gem! North County is an outstanding source for all things wine, but even better is their boutique wine bar to have a glass with friends or the owner. Like a small Napa winery without the vineyard. Jim is beyond friendly, knows everything there is to know about wine without being snooty. The perfect fit for the neighborhood and for San Diego. Best alternative to the big box wine store. I love the little outdoor patio, and especially like sitting up at the quaint bar with my girlfriend. She likes the huge selection of wines. A must during Christmas and the holidays, but even better throughout the year because you can pop in for a minute or just relax for hours.

If you are looking for “your spot” this is it. At least it is for me. Every time I’m here it’s as if I’ve been welcomed home to that house that is at the heart of every good neighborhood. (The one with the wine and the goss) The environment is peaceful and fun. With seating inside and outside, they host over 11 wines on tap for you to choose from. It’s a hub for fun and kind locals who are not only friendly but are connoisseurs who are happy to share their intimate knowledge of wine and the neighborhood to boot. Their selection of wines is just . There is a fridge with a fun cheese selection that you can pair with the wines that the owner and his staff recommend from that very selection. Look. I don’t gate keep. But this place and everyone here make me want to. I love it here. BUT A WORD OF ADVICE: It’s not a winery so don’t assume you have all this open space you can hog at the counter. Don’t be a butt. Be polite. I typed this after only One flight of three Italian wines, where I am actively avoiding rush hour. Come by ◡̈ I doubt that you’ll have regrets. Don’t be a rude drunk. Nobody likes them. NOBODY. Parking: There is some parking in front of the wine room but if you just Look a little Closer there is a BIG sign on the fence that says that you can find additional parking if you pull into the nursery next door and park by the fence. There’s an open entrance at the fence to get to the shop.
