Edit: The skewers I had in my recent visits weren’t as good as my first visit. Chicken hearts were a bit overcooked and chicken oysters were a bit dry. I guess it was a good night on my first visit. The food is still mighty tasty but it’s not always 5 stars it seems. Hope they can get consistent with quality. ——————————————- I loved the skewers at Nono. My friends and I especially loved the Chicken hearts skewers. They were very flavorful and tender. Whenever I get chicken heart dishes in other places, they tend to be underseasoned and a bit tough but Nono’s does theirs to perfection. We didn’t really try much of anything else apart from the skewers but they really were excellent! The skewers go really well with a glass of beer too. The ambiance of the place is also very lax and comfortable. Very much suited for hanging out and catching up with friends. The place is quite popular though so I think it would be best to get there early or if possible grab a reservation. Definitely a must try if you’re ever looking for a dining spot in San Francisco.

Finally, a wonderful izakaya restaurant comes to Japantown. It’s too time consuming to say what items on the menu are good because everything we ordered was delicious. We will definitely be back.

Cool place to try Japanese and Asian fusion food. Seafood is extremely tasty and fresh. Good happy hour menu as well if you want to get some small bites. The portion is small so I would say overall it’s a little bit overpriced but I would still recommend to give it a try.

Interesting place! There could be a wait after 5:30, and the line could be very long. Food was good, especially the chicken skin skewers. The server forgot our scallop risotto which was weird.

This is a small hole-in-the-wall izakaya-style restaurant near Japantown. Tried it out, and the food was really good! Ordered the Do-do Tofu (Firm Tofu in a mortar and pestle with shishito peppers and a mayo-like sauce), which was a novel experience as I needed to crush the tofu and peppers together before eating. It was delicious! Had the Nanban chicken next, which is spicy chicken wings with a white sauce. Also great - it's the sweet tangy sauce that makes it delicious. Also had bacon-mochi skewers, which were good, and a ribeye cap skewer, which was great. All in all it cost me around $43 without the tip, and I ended up really full. I actually think that I over-ordered, as I would have been full enough with 3 items instead of the 4 I got; the tofu and the chicken wings were filling. Service was good, and the ambience was just right. Slightly expensive, but food tastes good. Would recommend going here with friends.

Ordered 100 dollars worth of food, ended up finding another ramen place after this. The Kaisen Don had about 3 bites of food. The waitress didn’t even tell us there weren’t any Uni left. The audacity of assuming we didn’t know what it was and just straight up replacing it with random crab. The only reason there’s one star here is cuz the lowest is one star.

Decided to give this place a try on a weekday night and the place was almost full by 6pm, and lines started gathering by 6:30. We ordered the spicy scallop risotto, kaisen don, some cocktails, and some skewers. Overall it is delicious, but a bit overpriced because I wouldn’t say every dish was “above and beyond”. I love the kaisen don and how they prepared it. It doesn’t look much but it’s quite filling. The beef tongue skewers are juicy and have thickness to them. The scallop risotto is alright—the red spicy pepper flakes they put in there are a bit distracting from the overall flavor, and while the scallops are fatty and the way they prepare it melt in your mouth, there are only 2 scallops in that entire dish and yet you’re paying thirty dollars for it. I wouldn’t personally recommend getting the scallop rice but it is one of the bigger things on the menu. The Happy Lemon cocktail is delicious and worth the price. Their cocktails are more on the citrusy and refreshing side than boozy. What I found a bit frustrating (and some others have had the same experience) is that the service seems uncoordinated. It took too long for our order to be taken. Then later another server came around and asked if we were already served. I don’t really care if the place runs on designated servers or not, but with this undesignated server system, it didn’t seem like they communicated well on what tables needed to be served. It just seemed like they’re super busy and undermanned. While it’s possible to have a somewhat filling dinner here without feeling like your stomach is going to explode, we spent about $70-80 per person while ordering only a few items, so it’s entirely possible to drop $100+ per person on this meal.
