Everybody knows this the best spot for bun Bo hue in the city, 100% recommend it and it seems like from what I’ve had, that this is the best Vietnamese restaurant in the city!! Whether you’re a transplant from Texas or Cali missing good pho, or a native New Yorker trynna try some true authentically good pho with a. Classic timeless Vietnamese recipe, this is THE spot to go!!!

I'm visiting in New York and came here with my daughter and granddaughter for an early dinner. The inside of the restaurant is small with only five seats, but there is also a separate space outside where you can eat too. Quick service. I ordered Pho Dac Biet $18.00 (House combination pho with eye round, brisket, tendon, & tripe.) My daughter ordered Goi Cuon Shrimp $8.00 (Shrimp fresh summer rolls), Com Tom Ram $17.00 (Shrimp stir fried in a lemongrass sauce) and Vietnamese iced coffee $6. Granddaughter ordered Mi Xao Dzon Ga $20.00 (Stir fried chicken and veggies atop a bed of crispy egg noodles.) My pho seemed a little on the thin side in terms of soup flavor but many meat inside the soup. Stir fried noodles w chicken had a lot of vegetables and garlicky taste. Shrimp Lemongrass was okay. I think I'll try something else next time! Vegetarian options: Easy to find the vegetarian food here.

2024 UPDATE: Food quality went drastically down that I’m so sad and cannot recommend this place anymore. Dishes taste like any other mid Vietnamese restaurants in Chinatown. Original: Rare Authentic Vietnamese restaurant in NYC. Trust me. I was born and raised in Vietnam. All the flavors are so on point and consistent. Best of all, it’s so affordable!!! Not EV price at all. I hope they’re profitable enough to last years to come

Sadly this restaurant doesn't know how to take responsibility for simple requests. I specifically wrote to include napkins and utensils with my delivery order and whoever answered the phone excused themselves saying "the kitchen doesn't know English. You shouldn't have selected 'no' for utensils" which I informed them that I didn't... Then they started coming up with more excuses like "sometimes the notes don't get printed" and I pointed out that the note was visible on the delivery slip stapled to the bag. And then they hung up. I also paid extra for the house made chili oil another time and they didn't include that either. What is the point of special instructions/notes/add-ons if you aren't even going to read them? The second time around they included the house made chili oil that I purchased again but they barely filled a tiny container of it. And the banh mi doesn't even taste that good. The bread and ingredients don't taste very fresh and the mayo tastes quite gross/weird. And the iced coffee is bitter, even with extra condensed milk added. It's like it's gone bad.

I've been back to Nón Lá twice and enjoyed my meal both times. I get the beef ball pho, which is delicious. The broth is really flavorful and rich. I've also tried a bit of my friend's Bún bò Huế, which was also really good. The restaurant is pretty small with not a lot of seating. I went on a Sunday night with a group of 8 people and we were able to get seated in around half an hour. The food was also served super quickly.
