Niban Japanese Restaurant

Our favorite place for delicious Japanese food! I got their Vegetable Delight & was surprised how much food I got. It came with avocado sushi rolls, sunomono noodle salad, green salad, edaname, rice & LOTS of vegetable tempera. There was so much food, I was only able to eat half of it. Took the rest home for lunch the next day. Theor food is yummy & a great value. Super nice staff too! Vegetarian options: Only a few vegetarian options, but all are yummy. In addition to the Vegetable Delight, they also have Veggie Teriyaki, Ginger Teriyaki & Veggie Sukiyaki Bowls. Parking: Plenty of parking. Kid-friendliness: High chairs are available. Some booth seating which is good for small groups & families.

Such a lovely cozy place! Amazing experience as staff is very friendly and helpful, they don't mind explaining everything to you with a smile and honest advice, very caring and paying attention. It was just a very nice time to spend here and we enjoyed it very much

Food is always filling and tasty! Bento A, B, or C is always a great option for a lunchtime fill up. Service is always very polite and welcoming, and they are always extra friendly to my toddler. ONLY problem is that the tables have some kind of sticky residue on top of them, but it's easy to mostly ignore.

This restaurant has been here for a long time and serves a variety of Japanese dishes. Typically in Japan a restaurant will specialize in one type of food, but at Niban there is a large variety. The food is as "authentic" as you're likely to get in San Diego and the atmosphere has the vibe of a fusion of family-owned restaurant here and Japan (though larger than you'd usually see in Japan, outside Narita Airport or something). It's not "fancy", with the order placed at a front counter and the food delivered to your table, but it's good and a relaxing place to eat. There are a few tables outside as well. The staff is unfailingly friendly and helpful. I enjoy the fact that there are standard lunch specials as well as a rotating set of three specials of the day. Sometimes when you're not sure what you're in the mood for, one of the specials might appeal. Parking: There's always parking available, though some of the spots are quite narrow. It's gotten easier to find parking since Souplantation closed a while back. Kid-friendliness: This is a good place to bring kids, with lots of food choices, though there is not a specific kid's menu.
