My server was perfect. She brought me everything I needed before I could ask and was very friendly. The bus people and runners were also friendly. The hostess seemed like she couldn't be bothered and did not give me a menu. That being said the rest of the staff was so great it made up for it. I'm sad to see it close. The end of an Era.
Had the pleasure of dining at the Brooklyn Famous, Apollo Diner. Located in the downtown section of, you guessed it, Downtown Brooklyn. Met with colleagues for breakfast, and it was nothing short of classic NYC Diner food. The service was through, friendly, and wonderfully nostalgic of decent and filling diner food. That was generally correct ♀️, and without the attitude. Must to my shock, as well as many patrons, I am sure, Sunday, 17 December 2023, the Apollo Diner, after cooking for 40 years, will close. Their closing confirms the ever growing trend of closings of many great institutions that have provided good services to many people. I will miss this particular store for several reasons. Good customer service. Reliable service, rain, snow, heat anf more. Moreover, the atmosphere was always clean and welcoming, and several of the workers had been employed there for 30-plus years! Every June, I marveled when a banner was placed across the glass windows, with accolades to the graduates, marked by the current year. They did not have to do that, but they did... Word has it that their lease was not renewed. Not surprising, eh? And for the standard slew of reasons why and for whom the bell tolls. Just as the toll of each new day that dawns, I am reminded that time brings about a change of which is sometimes good, bad, and ooh so ugly. To that end, the Apollo Diner will be missed if for nothing else that it represented a bygone era of the food industry that (in a perfect world and the acknowledgment of this story) took pride in delivering a service to generations of patrons directly and to whom are grateful to be able to say, thank you. Come back soon. Thank you, Apollo Diner. May you go from strength to strength. You will be missed.
It was mad busy, dirty, the person in charge was rude when I asked him to sweep under the table before sitting , then it passed about 15 mins. and nobody took care of me. Finally, they moved me from that table to another one. They brought my food but not the pita bread, I had eaten half of my salad when they brought it. I had asked for the second cup of coffee ☕️ and they took a long time to bring it. But the weekend before, it was a pleasure.
