NegrilBK has become a favorite of mine and I enjoy bringing friends who are visiting to the restaurant for the fun experience that is the restaurant. I took two friends for their first experience and they were practically licking the plate clean. The drinks (frozen rum punch!) are always well made and very strong. The mac and cheese is some of the best in Brooklyn! You really cant go wrong with many of the food choices. There is often a DJ but the music is never overbearing that you cant enjoy conversation. The staff are always friendly and remember your face. 10/10 Parking: Busy 5th avenue in Brooklyn. Side streets have some parking available based on time.

I ordered a Rum Punch and it was very strong. I took a few sips and it remained almost full on the table. Though my server brought my food, checked on me and I ordered a soda, she didn't ask about the drink until I was done eating and paying for my meal. Even then, she simply asked if I wanted it in a cup to go. I mentioned that it was too strong and she simply asked if I wanted her to add more juice to it. I declined, paid the bill (including a full tip), and left.

I usually don’t leave reviews unless I feel it’s really necessary. On March 3, 2024 this was my 2nd time eating at this restaurant and after my experience I said this will be my last. I arrived and checked in with the hostess at approximately 5:20pm and proceeded to wait for a table for two. The restaurant was crowded and the hostess informed me the wait will take up 45 min to an hour. I was willing to wait since we were already in Brooklyn and told my husband who was parking the wait time. After I checked in with the hostess, I received a message on my phone stating I would receive a text once the table was ready. After about 45 minutes waiting outside my husband goes in the restaurant to ask the hostess how much longer until we are seated. By that time the restaurant was even more crowded so he comes back out to get me and we go back into the restaurant together. I figure the hostess would recognize me from earlier when she took my information but then she looks at us both and informs us there are no more tables available inside for the rest of the night. By that time I was done and ready to leave because I was confused as why that took over 45 minutes to let us know that. My husband then ask the host if there were tables available outside since we had been waiting already for a long time. The host then seats us at one of the tables outside. For the record , I have yet to eat inside this restaurant. The first time I came we could not get a table inside either. Fortunately, it was not too cold out and at this point I decided to make the most of it. If only the foolishness ended there. My husband and I both placed our order with the waiter who in-spite of everything was nice and did his best to make sure we were good. We were served our drinks which were good. Then we waited for about 30 minutes and the waiter comes out to inform us our food will be right out. Then maybe 15 minutes later the waiter comes back to inform us the entree my husband order, the snapper (with creole jumbo shrimp) was no longer available and therefore he needed to order something else. My husband then orders brown stew chicken with the jumbo shrimp. The waiter says the charge may be less for the entree since they did not have the snapper. We thought all was good until about another 15 minutes later the waiter comes back out and informs us they are out of brown stew chicken. At this point, the waiter tells us what the kitchen does have available and my husband modifies his order again. We waited again another 15-20 minutes( I lost track of time at this point) and then finally after almost an hour waiting for the food we are served. The food, in my opinion, was just okay. I already lowered my expectations after the confusion with the table and the kitchen being out of items on the menu. My advice If you want some great Caribbean cuisine and service go to Jasmine’s or S’Aimer which are black owned by a husband and wife and both located in restaurant row on West 46th street in the city. The service and cuisine are amazing and you won’t be disappointed. Sorry Negril BK…do better!

Amazingly delightful!!! Jamaican Caribbean cuisine … mmmm Every single bite was scrumptious. We all ordered something different & all of it was nothing less than deliciousness. Including the drinks were perfection. This is a definite place to return. Make sure you make reservations, you will not be disappointed.

They Mistook Spice for flavor Stepping into Negril BK on 256 5th Ave, Brooklyn, NY, promised a spicy adventure for my friend's birthday celebration, But what i got was a flavorless ride. The cooks seemed to have mistaken spice for flavor, leaving my taste buds confused by the cost. The lamb meatballs, priced at a hefty $18.00 for four, were more of a punishment than a treat – The spicy sauces didn't complement the flavor of the lamb, and it was so mismatched, I couldn't even finish them. And the portion sizes? Well, let's just say thank goodness they were small in this case because I hate wasting food. the Rasta pasta drowned in a sauce that screamed "pepper" and nothing more. No desert for me thanks. $35 to cut a cake I brought? I could have cut the cake for free! The service was in slow-motion all night. Our server didn't seemed interested in our dining experience, leaving us stranded between ordering and receiving our food. And for a spot filled with black, Spanish, African And Afro-Caribbean people; there was no tunes playing. In the end, Negril BK left me craving more – not for the food, mind you, but for an experience that didn't leave me feeling like we'd been caught in a spice tornado. So, if you're up for a fiery challenge and a lesson in patience, by all means, give it a shot. But if you value your taste buds and your time, you might want to steer clear.

The food is delicious, and the seating is comfortable, creating a great ambiance for a date. However, the music is too loud, possibly due to the bar turning into a club scene at night. This makes it less ideal for catching up with friends. Overall, though, it was a great experience.
