Newly renovated, food and atmosphere upgraded. Pineapple fried rice is excellent. New, and better.
Very expensive for pho. I came here 4/5 weeks ago. Always loved the old place before renovations, always had best comfort food. Spring rolls were the best there. Recently went back after renovations and new menu. Everything is quite expensive for pho. I paid 60-70$ for 2 bowls of pho & spring rolls. Food was bland, service was mediocre, atmosphere was quiet. Won’t be coming back here.
$21 for a bowl of pho!!! too expensive!!!
Beautifully remodelled, the food is great and presented nicely too. A real gem!
We're charmed and grateful that the owners did not give up on East Van; instead they double-downed to give us an opulant jewelry box. This renovation is like an act of defiance to the "Days Inn" Emergency Shelter across the street. This boss has b*lls and the local community should support it. However, other criticisms are true. There is an identity mismatch here. The atmosphere and service are hotel or cruise quality but a pho-is-a-pho-is-a-pho. Personally, I don't think it's expensive for paying for the wonderful atmosphere, service, presentation...and avoid downtown crowds and expensive parking. It is weird to have 2 menus Vietnamese + Singapore. It is a mistake to me bc the Singapore menu looks much more fancy with $100 lobster but it makes the customer feel less special, if I cannot afford those prices ...while eating the Vietnamese menu, we feel poor knowing there's a better VIP menu. Can you sustain an upscale menu in East Van? Maybe? This menu problem will continue to plague this place. They really need to sort it out asap. Anyway, we loved all the dishes (pho, ginger chicken, sour sop drink, ribs, nasi beef noodles). The bill was not cheap but I was happy not to be in a noisy, dirty place. I would definitely return. Service was attentive and warm. Keep it up! BTW, IF ALL ELSE FAILS, I WISH YOU CAN TURN THIS INTO A BRITISH AFTERNOON TEA PLACE.
I just want to say please don’t blame on the food or service quality when the business going down. The problem is price setting. Idk why you set your margin ridiculously high. Im writing because I saw your reply to one other review on their overpriced pho and you assumed they blamed on the food quality. No! People here don’t pay more than $15 for a bowl of pho. It’s the owner’s problem not the chef or waitress.
Service is top notch here. A true neighbourhood gem. Love the new decor.
