Mr. Kims, a part of the McNellie’s restaurant group and led by Executive Chef Ben Alexander, gained recognition with a James Beard Award nomination in 2023. Despite initial hesitations, I decided to give it a chance. The atmosphere is sophisticated and modern, with a Korean barbecue influence evident in the sleek black granite tables and gold chopsticks. Service, notably from Lisa, demonstrated a level of excellence akin to Michelin-star dining, with impeccable attention to detail and extensive culinary knowledge. Shawn's plum, hibiscus, and plum sugar cocktail left a lasting impression. Opting for the Omakase menu, I embarked on a culinary journey curated by the chef, starting with an oyster and Kaluga caviar, followed by a flawlessly executed scallop with miso cream sauce. The shrimp toast with kimchi pimento cheese sauce and Wagyu snowflake dumplings were exceptional. The steak tartare, accompanied by Kaluga caviar and fried milk bread, was both visually stunning and delicious. Accompaniments such as Korean potato salad and house-made kimchi enhanced the main courses, which included local and imported A5 Wagyu, bulgogi pork and beef, and miso-infused hamachi. Desserts featured ice cream, lemon tart, and raspberry cotton candy, providing a whimsical conclusion to the meal. Overall, Mr. Kims exceeded expectations with its outstanding food, service, and ambiance, solidifying its position as one of Tulsa's premier dining destinations.
Amazing amazing experience!! Not a dull moment to cooking the food in front of us to our wonderful waitress that explained everything to us when requested. Sweet and polite staff and bonus points don't be afraid to share that it's your first time! This was a fun new thing to try with friends and honestly can't wait again to go back!!! *Definitely recommend the brisket and kimchi rice*
From the moment we sat down our experience was phenomenal!!!! Our server Christian was amazing. The food was so delicious seasoned perfectly!!! Definitely will be back again soon.
Such a fantastic experience! It's a "treat-yo-self" type place. Perfect for groups of 4 where you sit at a table and cook a bite at a time. If you have larger groups you'll be a little separated. You need to call ahead and reserve a table. They have limited seating and it's a very popular spot. Did a tasting menu option my first time going here which was great. So when I came back, I knew which meats I wanted more specifically. It's a great communal dining, cooking bites at your own pace. You don't have to eat everything as soon as it comes out or it'll get cold. Since everything is raw, the bite you cook/ eat is always nice and hot.
Loved the atmosphere and kindness of the staff Cocktails were top notch I hated that the bill wasn’t itemized and there was no mention of shrimp in the kimchi appetizer I won’t dine here again. It was a great dining experience but for the price and allergy issue it’s not the best in town imho Kid-friendliness: I was surprised there were so many kids here and they even have a kids menu!
I am a Korean BBQ aficionado. This place blew me away with the quality of food, service and atmosphere. And very unexpected in Tulsa, Oklahoma! Meat at the highest quality. Banchan (sides) very unique and plenty of it! I would almost travel here just to eat at Mr Kim’s! Great job!
It was a perfect date night spot. Our waiter Javier (i think) was so attentive and kind. The food was great.
