Food is amazing we loved it we will be back . I had cheese grits with crawfish omelett it's so good yess it was !!!!
Great food we went there twice visiting from Arkansas. Loved the cheese grits and ham.
All of the food is absolutely delicious. Worth the wait.
Food was good, liked the atmosphere, staff wasn't as friendly as most of the other restaurants in the area
The food was okay. We went out of our way to eat there, Waited outside to get in which is normal for that area but not for the line. Weren’t very many people in line and we still waited too long in my opinion. Food was mediocre at best. Very disappointed.
I was born and raised in New Orleans, and I have not lived there in many years but visit when I can. I had heard that Mother's had fallen but got to experience that first hand this past weekend. My father used to order a poboy sandwich with a slice of cheese. It wasn't on the menu but the same poboy sandwich was, minus the slice of cheese. He asked if they could do it and the woman very rudely told him no. It's one thing to not accept any modifications-- especially in a busy place-- but there's no need to be rude to customers. We sat down at a table and waited for the food to come out. And waited. And waited. 30 minutes after we had ordered, and still not received any food, our waiter came back and said it was the shrimp that was what was holding our order up. One person ordered shrimp and she ordered it pan sautéed. Any New Orleanian knows that this is a very quick dish to make. If you are running behind with orders, that's fine, but no need to lie about what was causing the issue-- and it would have been nice to get some updates. We ended up waiting 45 minutes for the food, and when it did come the shrimp was just warm (which is why I feel that it was disingenuous to say it was what we were waiting for). The food was decent, but it was also pretty expensive. Definitely tourist pricing. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone-- it's surely a traditional staple but you can find better food and better service for equal or lesser value in the city. I do highly recommend anyone looking for a great Poboy go to Mahoney's on Magazine St. Get the Fried Green Tomato BLT poboy and the Crawfish Etoufee fries. One of my favorite lunches in the city.
3 stars is generous. Unlike their portions. The “platter” is a tiny little plate and costs $23. Still hungry when I left. Not much flavor there, either. They left the “soul” out of soul food.
Overall a good experience. It stays busy and people are in and out in no time. They definitely know how to make a mimosa. And whatever you do.... Get a biscuit. I've been raised in the south alllll of my life and their biscuits were the best I've ever had. The caramelized ham was also fabulous.
