Moody Tongue

One of the best experiences I’ve had in Chicago. The tasting menu was phenomenal, the beer pairing amplified it, and the service is top notch.

Went there during the Chicago restaurant week. Food were good over all by the deserts were too causal for a 2 star. Beers were cool and special. Also ordered the famous German chocolate cake and it was good but nothing amazing.

The star is for the server, who was a geedang champion. Honestly, so bamboozled… from the first moment it’s like this place wasn’t even trying. It’s like they were trying to turn us away, if anything. No one at the front desk. Odd, but - fine. Plates dirty when we sat down. Odd, but - fine. Food, though? What on Earth. Subpar at best… Literally had better buratta at Trader Joe’s. How is that possible? Shouldn’t be at this price point. The delicata squash was covered in vomit vinaigrette so maybe that brought the dish down? I don’t know - this is me trying to find the positives. Genuinely blown away by how bad everything was. We feel like we were part of a social experiment to test how much doodoo we’ll accept at a certain cost. Consider this review the answer.

Stellar service, food, and beer. Kyle especially went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and well taken care of.

Portion sizes are more "petite" so you won't over eat. Food and beer were delicious.

Moody Tongue is approachable and delicious food and beer. The whole experience is extremely unique with the beer pairings but again very approachable. I felt a little rushed by our server, although he was delightful. And the food is excellent. I'd stay away from the skirt steak, it's a bit costly for what you get. The duck is amazing! And do not miss the German Chocolate Cake.
