I dined at Monica’s yesterday and I can’t stop raving about how amazing the food was. The service was top notch, it was my friends birthday and they were very hospitable, they gave her sparklers on her cake. The interior decor, and attention to detail was on point, I felt like I was in Italy. 10/10 experience. P.S make sure you get the calamari, the best I have had.
Went to the bar for drinks in New Year’s Eve and I thought it was a great cozy place in the neighborhood.
Grossly overpriced, easily 50% more expensive than other places in the North End, with awfully mediocre food.
Definitely better restaurants in the north end. We were 15 minutes late due to the traffic. Hostess never called to confirm and gave our table away. Decided to hang out at the bar until a table became available. The bartender was rude and the drink wasn’t made properly. The dinner service was slow. The vodka sauce chicken parm was very spicy. The lobster pasta was very watery and underwhelming. Overall there’s plenty of better Italian restaurants in Boston.
Had a great meal here but when I opened the rest of my meal I took to go I swear the pasta was different pasta than what was on my plate and I’m a little weirded out now.
First time ever going to Monica’s, I wouldn’t go back. My friend ordered the chicken parm and didn’t like it. I ordered the sweet potato gnocchi and “famous” steak tips in Gorgonzola cream sauce. The steak tips had no flavor, the gnocchi was off white, very doughy and tasted like nothing, the sauce was the only highlight. We went based on multiple recommendations about the food and it was not good.
I had a reservation at this place at 8:00 and it was 8:08 and they gave our table away without telling us our trying to call us. They were extremely rude and not helpful. Wouldn’t recommend based on that. I’ve been to almost every restaurant in the North End and never had this experience. So disappointing, I had never been here and was looking forward to it.
Understaffed, with servants who don’t care.
Food and service was excellent! Will be back soon.
