Modu Sushi

We came in for lunch before dropping off my husband for a flight out. We started with a white miso with soft tofu and seaweed before having beef tataki, which was tender and perfectly flavored with scallions and their house sauce. Japanese couple running the front of house, kitchen and sushi bar. The wait for the sushi, which we chose a la carte, was worth every bite. The rice was perfectly cooked and seasoned and the fish was fresh. We had the eel and avocado, yellowtail, tuna and salmon rolls. Our favorite was the yellowtail as it was so flavorful and fresh tasting by comparison to other times we have eaten it at other restaurants. The service was attentive and timely. Happy to return here the next time we pass through Albany. Parking: Located in a mini shopping center there was sufficient parking. Kid-friendliness: They offer a kid menu with three options. Works for most kids preferences. Our kid was fine with eating what we had. They also had high chairs available for younger kids.

Beautiful place with extremely friendly staff. I just grabbed a few sushi rolls to go while on break and was offered a soup to take along for free :) Great value for sushi and it was fresh and delicious! I'll definitely be back!

Famous Asian restaurant in Clifton park

Best Wings I’ve had at any restaurant. The sushi was delicious and fresh. Had a wonderful eating experience at this restaurant with my family. Try the Saki, we had it cold and enjoyed it. Will be back again, saved as one our favorite Sushi place.

The quality of the fish is outstanding, it is easily the best in the Albany area. I visit here frequently to see family and I have tried all the well reviewed sushi places. Somehow I missed Modu, but you might say I saved the best for last. This is not a Japanese fusion place, which are very common in the area and usually focus on a trendy atmosphere. Modu is more traditional and you are going to get very high quality fish which is absolutely delicious. Between the tasty food and good service our whole group of six agreed that it is obvious why it is so highly rated and we were all wondering how we missed it. We’re definitely coming back.

My experience might have been a fluke, but I would suggest ordering out from here rather than dining in (unless you like a dead atmosphere). They also don’t let you sit at the sushi bar (i wanna see the fish, and talk to the chef, before I buy it)

We had gone to Modu on a whim considering how local it is for me and some of my family and I was blown away by the quality of everything. The space was really cozy and inviting. As for the Sushi itself, some of the best I've ever had with no exaggerating. A Gem of a restaurant Kid-friendliness: Staff was wonderfully kind to my younger sister, overall would give the highest marks.

Tried the sushi for take out once and liked it so much we decided to come dine in. Didn't disappoint. The whole family enjoyed the meal. GREAT service and TERRIFIC food. Hard to find good sushi since Saso's left Albany but this is a really good place.
