This place has actual beef burnt ends. I have had a hard time finding beef ones in PDX. The food was great and they were very nice.
Simple ingredients done to perfection. Best bbq I’ve had since moving to the west coast. The burnt ends, meatloaf, mac n cheese and cheesy grits were phenomenal. Very small dining room so expect waits on peak times but it’s well worth it.
Steph rocked it!! Great food, atmosphere, & people.
Writing on behalf of my best friend. The food was terrible. She is from the south and a chef herself. The red beans and rice was not good at all and arrived cold. Collard greens and mashed potatoes were abysmal. Her words.
I mean...what can I say that hasn't already been said? Solid food, great service, and located in the Mississippi District! I have been slowly working my way through their menu and have not been disappointed yet. At this point, I doubt I will. Plus, they now serve Boiled Peanuts!!!!!!!!!!!!
Boiled Peanuts?!?!?! As a southerner, this is my new favorite place!!!
Ordered delivery so can't say for service or atmosphere, but this is the best barbecue I've had in Portland. Edit: Ordered again and got the same thing (blackened chicken) and it was a hot mess. The first time it was juicy and perfectly dry seasoned all at the same time. The spice level and choice of spice of such was superb! The second time, however, the chicken was drowning in what tasted like possibly like soy sauce and was nearly inedibly salty. I was super bummed, but not ready to give up yet because I still liked their more consistent, tasty options, like the burnt ends and brisket. Ordered the chicken one more time thinking-- well, I've had it great once and horrible once, maybe the chef was just having a bad night. It was again drowning and inedibly salty. Blackened chicken is probably my favorite thing, so this was a major loss. I guess the first order was the fluke. What happened, guys?
