Having had a number of delicious meals at Mildred’s Soho we were looking forward to trying the Dalston branch. We were disappointed with the food, the main issue being a lack of flavour with some dishes. As it was a new menu we opted for the tasting menu so we could try some new dishes: Hummus was nice but nothing special, whipped taktouka was good but had no lemon flavour as described on menu. Patatas bravas was poor, menu says they are triple cooked potatoes which I assume means they should be crispy but they were soggy and the sauce wasn’t great. Aubergine Bharta lacked flavour and was bland as was the sauce accompanying the skewers. The skewers themselves were good as were the padron peppers, arancini and gyoza.
The Chick n burger was delicious with saucy sauces and veggies! The kimchi and tofu mix is fantastic and the sweet potatoes were very tasty
Food was nice but not mind blowing; very nice to have so many options as a veggie though.
We went for an Italian supper club at Mildred’s and the food was absolutely delicious. The menu was well curated and innovative and the staff were very warm snd hospitable. I would definitely go back to try different cuisines. Highly recommend it!
Me and my partner went to the supper club last week and we were quite excited to have managed to get a booking given how popular the tasting menu evenings are, however, we left quite disappointed with the food. Even though it is quite affordable for a 7 course tasting menu, the portions were extremely small (with 2 dishes being a small portion of sauce and 4-6 bits of vegetables on top) and pretty much every single dish lacked depth of flavour. The only enjoyable courses were the arancini and raspberry tart for us, otherwise the other dishes were very one note. The lasagne was sadly overcooked so when you started eating the pasta sheets became a bit of a mush. My partner was still hungry towards the end so ended up ordering a dish from the main menu, which was better than the food we got with the supper club but one of the components of this dish was cold. Overall I think we would've enjoyed ordering from the main menu more than doing the tasting menu. As mentioned by another review, I would have been happy to pay more for better dishes and slightly bigger potions. Service was very good but atmosphere was not great as it felt quite cold indoors when we arrived so didn't feel very cosy. Overall I would give the whole experience 2.5-3 stars.
The place.. nice, the menu hasn't really changed since I first went here 4 years ago. The service really depended on who was serving us. It went from friendly and bright with one to annoyed and slow, bordering icy with another. The food was just ok, which is fine, but I did have wind all night, and my friend who went with me also had an upset stomach. The price was fine. I thought 6 quid for a non alcoholic beer was a bit silly.
