A good place to eat and be with family

Wow, I don't normally post when an eating experience is not great but hmmm. A Mexican place that does not do steak. I have found that hamburger and shredded chicken is not good at Mexican restaurant s but that is all that was offered here. I had to stick to Spanish rice as my meal. We were a large party and most got the tamales, which they said were descent. The sauce was dark brown, normally we have a red sauce. We had a few get the taco salad and they were served cold, no sour cream or guacamole offered or given. They pretty much said it was all lettuce. We ordered a large aheese and a large guacamole which were okay but even finding a salt shaker to add salt took three tries. The chips, nooo nooo nooo. A Mexican restaurant is required to have good chips and salsa, this was not good. The chips were very thick and were a wheat chip of some sort. They were stale and hard to eat. The salsa, we didn't even eat after the first sip. They had a sweet salsa too, but nope...not good. I didn't have crab ragoons to eat with that. We even tried to order a pitcher of margarita s but they don't offer that. Our fault, had I realized this was a big version of the Mexican villa I had tried years ago, we would not have gone. I'm just sad because the waitress was pretty good. She was intense but good. She suggested the hot dogs and one of us got the hotdog, and loved it! Hotdogs at a Mexican restaurant? It was not horrible, but the menu is sparse and the option limited. We won't go back, for the cost, we could have gone for steak or great pizza.

Salsa tasted like store bought. Chicken tacos were just ok. Service was good.
