Melt Kitchen

We love this place - the chef (and he *is* a chef, don't let the menu fool you) is a true foodie. He doesn't do tomato soup, he does Tomato Basil Cream, and it is fantastic. The potato salad is amazing - usually, it has something nifty like cheddar added to it. The house salad has an above-average greens mix (frisee, endive, red lettuce, oak leaf lettuce), as well as nice tomatoes, cucumbers, pepitas, dried fruit, etc. Definitely above average food, for very good prices. My husband loves the pulled pork sandwich. The brownie with cheesecake bits in it today is a fan fave with him, too. For me, the most important thing is that the chef UNDERSTANDS gluten-free. He automatically uses a clean pan, separate flipper, and fresh gloves WITHOUT me even having to ask. And there is always something safe for me to eat, which is really nice. I highly recommend, even for people with full celiac disease, like me. Vegetarian options: There are always vegetarian options, and usually vegan too. Dietary restrictions: Celiac-friendly: this place REALLY understands safe gluten-free food. For example, before passing me the sweet treat he asked if I can tolerate oats - THAT shows a place that gets it. Parking: Parking is often available right out front. If it is a busy day (like during farmer's market days) you may have to par a block away at most. Kid-friendliness: Lots of items on this menu would be kid-friendly (several kinds of mac & cheese, for instance). And the decor will keep kids busy for a few minutes at least.

Absolutely amazing food. Their Mac n cheese is next level! One of my favorite lunch spots in town.

Amazing! The ‘best of both worlds’ sandwich may be the best I’ve ever had. Tomato soup was excellent. Would drive from Illinois to have it again. Yum!

Plenty of options for the vegetarian in your family and plenty of meat options for the rest of us. The food won’t disappoint. My wife told the server it was the best sandwich she’s ever had. Neat old time bank entrance complete with gunport in the window to keep the robbers away and an incredible old time bank safe vault in the back. Our first time. My husband loved the food. Me, not so much. It was ok. It was hard to eat the melt sandwich with a plastic fork and knife. My son liked the big cola bottle decor. Waitress was a little snippy, which was offputting. At every restaurant Ive ever been at Ive always ask for a glass of water with lemon. They only have bottle water, so I asked if they had lemon, and was told again, we only sell bottle water . So I said I wanted nothing to drink. When I paid the bill, I tipped less then usual, but was still almost 50%. She was super nice after that. The brownie was awesome and I dont care much for sweets. I hope her day got better. Will I go back there to eat? No, I wont choose it again myself.

Oh man, sure would love to try this place but they're almost never open lol
