It would be a 4 star review if it wasn’t for the Avocado Toast. This was the star of the show and made a huge difference. The place is spacious, parking is free and the food was good — only the avocado toast was exceptional. Service table was really good, but desk person during payment was a bit rude.
27 years later... it remains the same! I am very surprised and happy about that! Great burger!!!
Another classic example of Googie style diners (like Johnie's and Norms), this Mel's location originally opened as Ben & Frank's in 1962 and had an A list rock star clientele. Of course today it is one of the best and last examples of authentic mid-century diner experience, with a perfect menu and lots of homage to George Lucas and American Graffiti. A true classic helping to keep vintage Sunset Strip alive and well.
Inattentive staff and mid tier food. The building itself had a cool vibe, but I would still not recommend.
Cool late night eats. I ordered the tuna melt and tomato soup. The service was great!
Must place to visit in LA. Great food! If you are looking for typical diner, this is the place! I was stunned! Great atmosphere!
Sean gave us an amazing experience! Such a great waiter!!
