Umbrella is our only choice for a cocktail bar on Melrose for a day time sip. Beautiful decor, simple food menu that doesn’t disappoint and an expansive backbar. Thank you for the hospitality George, we’ll be back soon.

Horrible place with pathetic service. They make you stand around even with empty tables and the bartender is rude and busy flirting with girls. Avoid this place.

I came here last night (Sunday 2/25) with a friend and had one of the oddest experiences with a waitress. My friend arrived first and ordered a drink and sweet potato fries. I arrived less than 10 minutes later. I was told the waitress would be right over but didn’t see her for a good 15 minutes. I ordered my drink and asked to close out the tab as I was paying with cash. The drink was $17 dollars. She never came back with my change. I was going to leave her the change anyway but I was bothered that she felt entitled to them as if I didn’t have a choice. She stopped by 3 different times to ask us what we ordered, another time if we were still waiting for our food..? Like, do you remember bringing it out?/ do you see it on the table? The sweet potatoes fries took 1 hour to come out. At this point I’m irked about the late fries and my change. When she brought out the fries, I asked her for my change. She aggressively let me know it was $2 and some change. I didn’t budge and said ok letting her know I was 100% expecting my changed back. She left and came back, but instead of having my change back she came to ask again if I was sure I wanted the change back as the drink had been $17 and tip would usually be $2. I was flabbergasted. I told her it was not okay to assume or feel entitlement over someone’s money. I get to choose if or how much I want to leave. This woman came back one more time and instead of bringing me my change. Asked me if there was something wrong with the service? I was extremely irritated at this point and let her know exactly what was wrong: 1) you took my money without my permission and held it hostage when I repeatedly asked you to give it back. 2) I didn’t see you for 15 minutes after I sat down. 3) the sweet potato fries took one hour + to come out. She made a comment about chatting with the manager. Didn’t even apologize if I remember correctly. Had this snarky entitled attitude at every encounter I had with her. She came back with 2 tequila shots. And my change. We left her the $2 she was begging for and even an extra $1 for the shot but damn was that bizarre. I worked in service for years and had never seen or hear of such a thing.

Very nice location on Melrose. The staff are very friendly, and there is a nice selection of drinks. A nice place to stop and have a drink and snack when wondering down the street.

Popped in with a date on a day that was raining cats & dogs and had such a gratifying and pleasant experience! We sat at the bar and were immediately taken care of. Big shout-out ️to Indio for providing exquisite service, excellent cocktails and just being an all-around awesome dude; he really made our experience what it was. The food came out fast and needless to say, the kitchen staff absolutely killed it!! We tried ALL the tacos; asada, al pastor, shrimp, chicken mole & chicken tinga. They were all great with the stand outs being the al pastor and the mole = . The al pastor was so crispy with a great mixture of sweet from the pina and the salt from the pork and yo, that mole, that mole though ...had such a fantastic combo of savory and chocolate profile that was super unique; well done . The cocktails were expertly crafted by our main man Indio, they had great balance and were enjoyed to the very last drop. The place has a great atmosphere that supports intimate conversation, relaxed vibes and on chilly nights, there's a fireplace to cozy up on too. If you're in the neighborhood, Melrose Umbrella Co., makes the list and won't let you down.

Came here with a large party (reservation) and they had us roped off and a dedicated spot at the bar for ordering. Loved the music they were playing, and the food and drinks were great as well.
