MAYA CAFE Lounge & Gallery

I went to visit this restaurant due to some of the positive feedback. I was highly disappointed in every aspect of this establishment. This is a very artsy but very grungy, and yes very dirty place. It looks like an abandoned building that was decorated with items picked up from the dump and then just painted. It's almost as if they drove around picking up items from the streets of Orlando, placing them in the restaurant and then painting pretty pictures on them. There was no rhyme or reason and definitely no cleanliness. Everything from the chair I was sitting in, to the table I was eating on, to the menu I was handed was dirty. I ordered a cafe latte and the waiter had no clue what I was talking about. So I ordered an espresso and was serve something that tasted like dirty water which I sent back and then requested a canned drink. I ordered the Cuban sandwich which actually was pretty good but I didn't enjoy it. It felt so dirty in my surroundings, I kept thinking how dirty the kitchen must be if this is how they present the public areas. I have written almost 200 reviews on TripAdvisor, in over 10 countries and very few of them are negative. I'm very glad that this 'resturant' is not listed on TripAdvisor. I think this would be an embarrassment to Orlando. I'm sure the owner will now reply contesting my experience and bringing up all the positive reviews. However, in my experience, those reviews are probably from friends and family, or people who have a vested interest in this establishment. Orlando and the surrounding areas has a million and one excellent restaurants, many of them small family owned, that are clean and actually make an effort to stay clean. Please skip this one...

This place is beautifully unique! I loved the inside. I had The Maya latte, the empanadas and the vegetarian eggplan tacos and I recommend them all. The anti-inflammatory juice was delicious as well. I give it a 5 I can't wait to go again. Vegetarian options: Great options Parking: There's a big parking place behind the restaurant.

After an excellent movie “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare” we chose this place for lunch. From the moment you enter, the decoration is incredible and the comfortable furniture is delicious. 100% recommended.

I've been here a few times and I've always had great food. The service was good the first time I was there. The next time I was a bit surprised when I asked for a gift card for a friend's birthday. I was told they don't have gift cards. The young lady working said she could give me a receipt for the gift card and she would print out an extra receipt. She would then be able to take the extra receipt to the office and customize it, print it out, and then laminate it for me. I was very happy that she offered to do this for me. I sat at the counter, and sat, and sat! I had been waiting for 20 minutes and I asked if she had any luck creating the gift card. She came out with the gift card printed on a piece of paper and said she just needed to cut it out and then laminate it. To my surprise, the other employee asked her to make a cocktail for a customer who had been there for a few minutes. She placed my printed gift card on the counter and started making the drink for the other customer. I asked if she was going to make that drink before she finished my gift card. She said, yes. I then asked for a refund for the gift card, since I'd been waiting now almost 30 minutes for a $25 gift card. I explained to her that I had no problem waiting, until my business was not as important as the other customer who had been there for only a few minutes.

Family owned and run! Very friendly service, amazing creative atmosphere, and support for local artists. Great place to sit for a while and work on your art or writing. One of those cafes where you are welcome to relax and enjoy the space after you eat, or sip slow on your coffee. Excellent coffee and espresso options, food is delicious and adorable in presentation!
