Food and presentation was amazing.
Combo multiple food concepts in one place. You can even get some chicken. Kaarage good. Veggie sushi good and fun experience packaged nicely in box. For Matsuoka, we got two mixed sushi boxes which is nice for variety. Good but a little overpriced for what you get. Felt like paying more for the "packaging". Our waitress was confused with how the ordering worked and said it would take an hour for our sushi, but we ordered anyways. Got it in about 20 min while we ate our
Great meals, each and every bite was an experience. The presentation is just as good. Certainly an award worthy. Complements to chef Haji!
This restaurant and the 2 others ( Raki Raki + Junya Crispy Karaage) are just not good. It is an insult to Japanese cuisine the lack of flavor, quality, and freshness their food has. I suppose they have stayed in business because they have changed the name of their businesses several times over the past few years to attract customers. From the sushi to the ramen to the bento boxes, all the food was extremely disappointing. Miso soup was served room temperature and we asked for a new one- never came out. Their service is subpar as well with no checking in- having to stand up and wave to get a waiter to assist. Unfortunately we will not be returning here and advise others to avoid this corner of restaurants.
It was fantastic along with delicious. Presentation was beautiful. Staff was professional and very friendly. Will definitely will go back.
The omakase bento box is delicious. Looks great also!
Creative rolls are awesome
Matsuoka is a unique experience unto itself, and the food is fresh, fancifully presented and garnished, and fit for the most elite Sushi spot in Japan. I had the opportunity to meet Chef Junia, of this new spot, sister to Raki Raki and a fried chicken resto. The chef, elegantly poised in dark shades, a smart, sleek haircut, and an expertly cut suit, at once 70s cool and 2020s chic fed - pun intended- into this chef's star quality. The food was a standout. The fish was fresh, perfectly portioned in all its sushi splendor. The plates were vibrant, accented with purple edible flowers, and expertly drawn soy sauce designs. The chef described the experience as "pure" and cautioned us against using soy sauce or wasabi as it would detract from the taste. I didn't listen, I used my usual soy sauce mix to dip my sushi in... but chef was right! The sushi and sashimi were rich in their simple flavors. I'm not a sushi connoisseur by any means but Matsuoka is the spot that really hits the spot! The open kitchen, where the sushi chefs work in concerted unison to produce the primest sushi product, is a wonder. The restaurant itself is all pale cream wood beams and tall frosted windows that let in light but maintain the customers' privacy. Matsuoka is a unique experience and a real treat to the pallet.
