Mastro's Ocean Club

Dinner at Mastro's in Downtown LA was an unforgettable experience! The service was exceptional, making us feel welcomed and well cared for throughout the evening. The ambiance added to the luxurious feel, with elegant decor and a lively vibe that's perfect for a special night out. We indulged in the tomahawk steak which was cooked to perfection, alongside rich and creamy scallop potatoes and decadently cheesy mac n cheese. To top it all off, the wine and cocktails were absolutely amazing, each sip complementing our meal beautifully. It's a fantastic spot for anyone looking to enjoy a top-notch dining experience in the heart of the city.

Service was great by all the servers and hostess. Unfortunately our food was extremely bland lacking in simple seasoning. The highlight was the Swordfish Au poivre and the Wedge Salad that had great bacon. Unfortunately the Garlic Mashed Potatoes were lacking any touch of salt and garlic, the Sea Bass was unseasoned and bland while being cold and undercooked. No salt or Pepper on the table to try and remedy the blandness. Our appetizers were OK but just ok. The music was was so loud nobody could talk without screaming.

The food and service was great. There wasnt a single thing I didn't like about the food. I had the 22oz Ribeye, medium rare, was cooked perfectly. Jumbo lobster tail was a little over done but still good grill flavor. Fries that were served looks like it was peeled off of 3 lbs of potatoes lol, just soooo much. All seasoned perfectly. My wife got the rack of lamb, with mash potatoes and sauteed asparagus. Lamb was cooked to a nice medium and was not all that gamey, real nice flavor. Again the seasoning of the sides were on point. Would definitely recommend you trying this place out if you haven't already. Definitely on the more expensive side of fine dining so it took me forever to get here but definitely worth the experience.

You have to love the steak, I usually get a medium rare, you will love it.

My recent visit to Mastro’s in Downtown LA was marred by an incredibly disappointing experience, compelling me to share my thoughts and give this establishment a one-star review. Despite having a reservation for a party of six, my guests and I were subjected to an unreasonable wait time of over 45 minutes. The justification for this delay was that two members of our party were not present at the time of our reservation. What made this situation particularly frustrating was the visible emptiness of the restaurant, which contradicted any reason for not accommodating the rest of us. This was my first encounter with such an issue at Mastro’s, a place I had come to enjoy for its service and ambiance. The refusal to seat us in a timely manner, despite the apparent lack of patrons, was bewildering and significantly impacted our dining experience. It’s important for future patrons to be aware of this potential inconvenience, as the policy does not seem to reflect the needs or respect the time of its customers. Overall, the handling of our reservation left a lot to be desired, and it’s with regret that I find myself sharing this negative experience. The cornerstone of hospitality is understanding and accommodating your guests, something that was starkly missing from our visit. I hope this review serves as constructive feedback for the restaurant to improve its service and policies, ensuring that future guests do not encounter the same frustrations we did. Beware party of 10 requires a contract to be signed, which doesn’t make any sense.

Service is an art. An art where years of experience can develop a person to learn and read their client. Senior Frits did just that. Unfortunately last minute my baby sitter canceled and we had to take our two lovely daughters to dinner with us. Frits right away greeted my family with the up most optimism witch help me be at ease. Every request was catered and enhanced to better suit our needs. I can go on and on about the experience but the best I can say is thank you. I look forward to my next visit.
