Masterpiece

I went to the location in Duluth & after reading these reviews about location in John's Creek I will pass on the over priced food.

Update: We regularly go here for lunch, but the day-of I called to make sure they were open because we tried to go there in Dec and the doors were locked- No note on door as to why or when it would reopen. The woman who answered the phone was quite unfriendly, as if I was bothering her with my question. Well, guess it was the same person who greeted, and waited on us, because she was borderline rude to us throughout our lunch...again, you could tell she wanted to be anywhere else but there helping anyone...from the lukewarm greeting to when we paid the bill. The regular lady who used to greet us was one of the main factors in why I always wanted to come back. Where was she?! Feeling like you are not welcome is a deathnail for any business. Another change: country music was playing! Really? I can go so many places here in the south and that would be standard. I can't stand country music...Where was the cool, modern, relaxing & fun music usually played that was always a key aspect that made this restaurant so enjoyable to me? Consistency is very important to solidify your brand. People rely on things that they like about a place remaining the same... ORIGINAL POST, made in mid-2023: Cool music, clean, lovely decor, and super-friendly lady that always greets me! This is my #1 lunch destination when I'm in Johns Creek.

I really wanted to give this place a solid 4 stars. The food was delicious, and authentic Szechuan recipes, which didn't contain a plethora of salt - like some other restaurants. The portions for each dish were enough to share . The prices were right at what I would expect for the neighborhood . Though, the wine per glass was priced slightly high in my opinion. The atmosphere is clean and laid out very nicely. The bathrooms are clean, and there is plenty of space for wheel chair accessibility. There is also ample parking all around the perimeter of the restaurant. The reason I could not in good conscience give this place 4 stars is because the customer service was not good. After ordering our food. No one checked to see if we were ok or if we wanted anything else. I had to flag the waitress down to request lemon wedges for my order. When we were done eating, we were met with the bill and absolutely no hospitality. The waitress never even said thank you for the tip. As much as I enjoyed the food, I value good customer service, and for this reason, I will not be returning to this establishment. I am quite surprised that this restaurant hasn't received a solid overall five-star review. My family and I have eaten here several times. We've always been greeted courteously and seated promptly. The servers have always been pleasant, smiling, and attentive, and on at least one occasion remembered me from a previous visit. They've asked if everything was satisfactory and if we needed something, all I had to do was raise my hand. The food is always incredible - one Chinese diner told me that she is from Szechuan province and that the food at Masterpiece is like home cooking for her. Compare the kung pao dish here with the bland, watery orange sauce dish you get at any other Chinese restaurant and you'll be hooked. The portions are large and served piping hot, as each dish is completed in the kitchen. The shrimp in the salt and pepper shrimp dish are huge and battered just right for me. We've just never had a bad dish or bad service here.

Visited for a cheerful weekend, but left disappointed due to the unsatisfactory service. The waiter seemed upset, displaying impatience and rudeness when questioned about the menu. This greatly affected our mood for dinner. Although the food was decent, the slow service overshadowed the overall experience. Unfortunately, I won't be returning as a customer.
