Well oiled machine . It's great food at fast food prices !
I might try different bowl next time! Nikutama is so plain!!!
We visited the store the first time about one week ago. We ordered a Kake udon and a chicken Katsu curry. Both orders were just way TOO SALTY.
The restaurant was clean inside and had a nice ambiance. The udon tasted a bit salty and the egg was not hot. Otherwise the noodles and the portion sizes were good with a sizable amount of meat. The long line went very quickly. Plus they have to-go boxes for leftovers. The customer service was not the same level of service you'd get in Japan. One staff member appeared to be giving me the side-eye. I thought it was a one-off or my misunderstanding....but then I witnessed her doing the exact same thing smirking at another customer! Another worker touched her head with her gloved hands and then continued to serve food right afterwards... The clerk at the register left to look around while someone was in the middle of paying. Granted, a lot of the staff appeared to be quite young but it was still surprising.
Me and my friends ate here twice and we agreed the soup is too SALTY. Maybe this is the way Japanese styles. We only liked fresh noodles that's all.
I love this chain but this branch is very poorly run compares to others. They kept reducing their menu. They use to have onigiri, mentai udon etc. But they kept taking things out one by one. The staff just extremely incompetent. They often forget things or the order entirely with my online order. Hate to see a good chain being managed so poorl
We typically go to the DTLA location, but since that one has been closed for a while, we decided to give this one a try. We ordered the tonkotsu and beef udon. The taste was consistent with what we have gotten at the DTLA location. The noodles were bouncy and the pork had a nice balance between lean and fatty meat. The overall bowl was quite savory and filling. We hope they bring the onigiris back one day.
Great service, friendly stuff, very clean and well organized place. Came during dinner time thinking it would be busy as the line was very long and wrapped around the corner. Only waited about 25-30 mins, not too bad! Tried this place for the first in Honolulu Hawaii and was craving it! Fresh udon and tempura. Loved how the tempura didn’t taste like old oil! Definitely a must try when in California if you’re craving udon. We got the curry nikutama, kake, nikutama, and a bunch of tempura to share!
