Food was mid I walked in for the first time and didn’t know how to go around to order and the people behind the glass just stood there saying nothing. I tried asking questions to the guy with the reddish hair making the food and they just rolled their eyes. Did not seem interested in talking. I asked him another question and completely ignored me. The cashier tried to redirected me to quickly check me out and gave me little to no response. Children were running around with no regard for people walking around holding their trays and nobody asking them to stop. I ordered a chicken katsu, not only did it come cold it was pink in the middle. Food lacked flavor and the service just left a bad taste in my mouth.
The food just did not hit for us, although the presentation was quite nice. Broth was lukewarm and the tan tan specifically lacked a bit of flavor. In contrast, my accomplice got the curry nikutama and that one had flavor. I guess it's highlighted for a reason! We also got some tempura stuff and were about to take the ones that were already made, but one of the workers fried fresh ones for us which was much appreciated. Especially since we came in about an hour to closing and they had plenty of already made tempuras out!
This place is a 5/5! I absolutely recommend to anyone who wants some good udon or noodle dish.
I tried Marugame for the first time in LA and loved it. I was so excited that we had one in here but it’s not the same. Broths are like luke warm, egg yolks are cold, chashu tasted like it never had seen fire, service was just meh.
