Mark's Prime Steakhouse

I hadn’t been to Marks in several years. Previously I’d always had a memorable meal but not this time. While the service was strong as usual, the food had been overly tampered with. LEAVE THE QUALITY INGREDIENTS ALONE! The escargot had fontina or emmental melted over it, completely overpowering the escargot. The scallop appetizer had beautiful scallops wrapped in bacon with some reduction drizzled over them. The taste of those beautiful scallops was lost. Our spinach side had Parmesan cheese melted into it, giving it an “old sock” taste and flavor. In the past it had just been butter which was fine. The risotto was ok but not a side I’d order again. My steak was done perfectly but my guest’s filet was ordered medium well ( a bad call on her part) but arrived well done. All in all it was a classic example of being artsy crafty with ingredients that could have stood by themselves.

Located downtown. I visited here on a Saturday night, I would recommend to have a reservation as it was quite busy. Upon arrival I was promptly seated at our table. Our waiter was great, paid attention to details and recommended a few options. Mark’s has a great selection of wines. For dinner, we order steak and some sides. Unfortunately they were sold out of their chef meat special this evening. I would recommend the Delmonico cut, twice baked potato, and the risotto. The risotto changes daily as it’s a chef special of the day. Lastly, we had to wait over an hour for our entrees to arrive, the manager did come over and apology for the wait time. Thankfully shortly after that, the food was brought to the table. Parking: There is mixed parking here, a paid parking garage which is very close to the restaurant, and free street and parking lot near by. Always end up at Marks when I am in town and am never let down! Fantastic!

Our first time and the food was outstanding. Service was great as well. Got the hibiscus with tequila cocktail. So yummy. Will definitely come again.

Second visit to this location. First was several years ago and we were very impressed. We went again last night 2/10/24, and not pleased.. I had petite filet which was overcooked, my husband had bone in ribeye which was very fatty with no flavor at all... this is absurd for a $60 steak. We can do better on our own with publix steaks. This was our Valentine's dinner and for a $300 bill we were quite disappointed!!! The prices are no longer reflective of the quality of dining!
