Marietta Proper

Marietta Proper boasts a visually stunning ambiance, but our recent dining experience fell short in several aspects. To begin with, our appetizers, which included empanadas, pork belly, and bruschetta, were underwhelming in flavor. We ordered 6 empanadas but received only 4, which was the first of several issues. Service proved to be a challenge; despite our 7pm reservation, we encountered delays in drink orders. I even had to request my drink multiple times and waited over 30 minutes for it. The service confusion continued when our food arrived. We ordered short ribs in two different versions – a small plate and an entree. One arrived promptly but lacked the accompanying sauce, while the second (IDENTICAL dish) took an additional 20 minutes to arrive, leaving us baffled about the difference between the two. We addressed these concerns with our server, Selena, who assured us that the manager, Justin, would compensate us for the inconvenience. The resolution process was less than ideal. Initially, Justin offered a 20% discount, but when I requested the removal of my delayed drink and a complimentary dessert to share, he hesitated by offering a 10% discount - mentioning the owner felt they are giving too much. Reluctantly, they agreed to a 15% discount in addition to my requests. Negotiating compensation left a less-than-pleasant impression after the overall dining experience. I don't feel I asked for too much. The last issue emerged when we realized our previously ordered additional entree to-go was never placed. Despite this, we were still charged for two short rib plates. We asked the manager to remove one of these to which he replied - "but you ate it." - this was a shock considering we split one of the short rib plates between 4 ppl and still never even received the full, completed order with side dish. The original dish that came out with no sauce was never touched. After spending around 2.5 hours there due to delays and negotiating compensation, only one bill was correctly discounted initially. When we brought this to Justin's attention, he delayed correcting the error, stating that he will get to it after clearing some other tables (in an almost empty restaurant). In conclusion, while Marietta Proper offers a beautiful setting, our dining experience was tarnished by service issues and communication challenges. I hope they address these concerns for future patrons, but regrettably, I am unlikely to return anytime soon. I’m a regular on Monday nights for my fav early week spot. Angela and Jordan take the best care of me every time. Best spot in Atlanta!

Went here for a date night! Drinks and food were amazing. We didn't have a reservation, but it was mid week and we were a bit early. I noticed as it got later, reservations were increasingly important.

The vibe was good, the service was good. The problem was the food. Beef tartar was poorly chopped, it had tendent strings in it and it got stuck in our teeth, the chips served with it were cooked a day ago and they kept breaking plus their were full of oil. The chicken skin also tastes like it was not as crispy as it should be. We tried bread pudding and it tasted like a toast with whipped cream and chocolate sauce. The pork belly had a lot of fat that was not rendered. They need to slow the cook down to render the fat, we kept spitting fat into the napkins. I would not go back especially for the price we paid for food and drinks.

Great food, great service in a lovely atmosphere. The staff was incredible, could not have asked for better service. The food was unique and delicious.

Stopped in for lunch and drinks and everything about this place is great! The decor and atmosphere gives sort of a 1920's art deco vibe, and the food is top tier. I had the salmon sandwich with homemade chips and it didn't disappoint. Located in Marietta Square. I'm definitely going to put this place in the rotation. Tip: if you're a mimosa fan, try the "proper" mimosa- you won't regret it. Another pro-tip: try to go during breakfast or lunch if you want to do a walk-in like I did. Reservations are highly encouraged for evening service (they tell you this on their website).

This place is amazing , food was fantastic, and the service was outstanding! Small plates with a mighty bite. The wings were baked and totally delicious. The drinks were amazing from the Big O to a glass of French Wine! We totally recommend this amazing restaurant.

Beautiful restaurant! Loved the 1920s art deco vibe! Espresso Martini was divine. We had the Chickpeas & Bacon, Chicken Tostada, Grilled Vegetable Tray, Meatballs & the Berry Puff Pastry dessert. The Veg Tray & Meatballs were our favorites. Dessert was far too sweet for my taste, but hubby liked it. Prices were fantastic!

Best atmosphere and phenomenal service! Parking: Parking was fine at 5:30 but as it got later it looked like it might be difficult to find a spot.
