Just putting this out there - Broadway/Show-tunes are not “my thing”. That being said there is something very special about this place. You can tell that everyone here really enjoys the place and is there to have a good time. The bartenders are friendly and the drinks are reasonably priced.

I mean, what can you say? It smells like an ancient bar but the cocktails are cheap and—regardless of the size of the crowd—people are friendly and singing their hearts out.

I’m seeing comments about treatment of POC here and I have to agree. I’ve been coming here for almost 10 years and never have experienced treatment like this. I wonder if there was a change in management? We brought a large group to support the bar, working professionals in the industry and mostly POC. We were told to stop singing so loudly and to stop moving around by the bartender which I’ve never been told at this bar before, a singing musical theatre bar. The bouncer had us move to the right side for safety reasons. Then move to the left because we were still in the way. Then back to the right. Very confusing. We tip profusely in cash and venmo as we also work in the theatre and service industry. The server then referred to our group as a 21st birthday and told us we can’t just show up in our outfits and not tip. We’re all in our late 20’s/30’s, and have been doing nothing but going up to the piano and tipping, and supporting who is performing. I thought this was supposed to be a judgement free zone. Maybe there’s some rule about singing quietly here we didn’t know about, maybe we just didn’t fit in here but we definitely didn’t feel welcome.

Terrible and unwelcoming atmosphere, especially for POC. The staff was rude and antagonistic through the whole experience, culminating in the bouncer targeting and berating one member of our group for all of us being too loud (when there was no music playing). We would have quieted down at a simple request, he could have addressed the whole group but chose to be outright aggressive toward one person, and we were not disrupting the music (again, none was playing). I will not be returning and will be warning others against it, because the staff made it extremely clear not everyone is welcome here by whom they chose to target. Judging by other reviews, our experience was not unique and this was not a one-off night.
