Mao Izakaya & Sushi

This place is better than Amakara. Even though there were two servers, there was no one to greet us when we entered. Has nice bathrooms. Lion King Roll is better than Mao Signature Roll. The chicken karaage has a lot of chicken which was nice, but the breading wasn't as crispy as I would have liked. Want to try sashimi plate sometime.

The sashimi is fresh but over priced in this place. The service was bad. I had to raise my hand to call the waiter a few times. Also, they put very little , real tiny wasabi on $40.00 chirash bowl . So I asked more wasabi, then they charged extra on my bill without informed me. I should take a picture of how much wasabi that they put on the Chirash. I complained to the manager and he didn't fix the bill. He proceeded to pay with my credit card. That was so ridiculous. ( Hello~ the reason that I talked to you was ..to solve the problem.) I was very disappointed and I won't return again. Don't trust all good reviews. Read negative reviews that were written recently before you go to this place. FOODS are not the same as pictures posted perivious in the reviews.

One of the best sushi experiences in East Bay for certain. We had the Wagyu platter, which came with A5 and other amazing beers, mushrooms, and a little pot to sear it for yourself at your table. Along with that a selection of two delicious premium salts. That alone was worth five stars, but the service was incredible. They checked on us with a smile, but not to the point that it's too much. We also had the Lion King and Mao Signature, both of which were incredible. Great ambiance, laid out well and not too noisy.

Really great- sashimi super fresh and far better than the other popular sushi restaurants in the area. Their signature dish is a steamed beef and vegetable mix which was accompanied with dipping sauces. Came with our three kids and they loved it as well.

비싼만큼 생선질 도 좋고 깨끗하고 친절합니다 다만 아쉬운점은 술 먹기는 좋지만 밥 먹기는 무언가 아쉬웠어요그리고 비싼만큼 티 도 아주 작은잔인데...그냥 써비스 차원으로 줘도 되지 않을까 싶네요 작은잔에 2불이 넘네요^^;;
