This was booked by a member of my team a few months ago. We were advised a refurb was going on, but would be complete by the time we stayed. Sadly this was not the case. The car park area is greatly restricted at the moment and the lounge bar was not yet up and running. This meant our party had to make alternative parking arrangements and we weren't able to grab a quick drink when coming back in (indeed, I was challenged by a rather abrupt member of staff about where I was going) In short, check your room has undergone a refurb before booking and check on whether other critical facilities are available before booking. Food wise, only had breakfast, which was adequate, but well below what you'd expect from a Mariott in honesty. Bar I've mentioned, just wasn't available. One of our party had a refurbed room, but the rest had older rooms which were extremely tired to say the least. Please see pics and videos for details. Teamaking kit was in a hard to open drawer, safe was inaccessible due to design, AC/heating broken and shortage of normal (non rounded) plugs, so no charing your phone at the bedside. TV was ancient and never mind casting, didn't even have accessible HDMI, just an ancient set of ports if you want to play back vid clips from a late 90s camera... Bed was hugely uncomfortable and furniture rather battered and of a certain age. Views of the city were not applicable in my room due to scaffolding and safety netting. Budget hotel room for mid to high end price. One bonus is that it's pretty close to Piccadilly station and the village, but until renovations are complete, you can do better elsewhere. Would seem that the staff are aware of the issues caused by the prolonged work, as when I checked out and was asked if there were any issues I simply said that my room hadn't been renovated yet and got a general apology. Rooms: Extremely dated for the price. Refurb seems to be lagging behind schedule. Walkability: Accessibility could be better. My room was not flagged as adapted but was poorly laid out. Extremely long corridors if that's something that's an issue for you. Reasonable walking distance to station and the village. Noteworthy details: Give this place a miss till the refurb is complete...

I stayed in this hotel for 9 nights. So unpleasant experience! In my check-in the lady didn't give any essencial info about the SPA which is charged, no info about which floor is the breakfast. The reception in my first day was like a war inside, you couldn't believe how messy that was. This hotel is an old building and they are renovating that, which noises everyday from 8:30am you can expect that. They put me in the second floor where the carpet is very old, heating didn't work. I phoned them twice to reception but nobody went to assist me, they just said they were restarting the central heating but nothing happened. After waiting 2 hours I came to reception to complain about that and they moved me to floor number 9, which the bedroom is better but the phone doesn't work and 2 days later the heating stopped working too. I came again to reception and they said someone would go to fix that and they gave me a heating to put in my bedroom. After my all staying nobody went to fix that. Also a few days before my check-in they emailed me saying than the gym is closed for renovation and I can try to find something close to that area if I wish to use it. This hotel has a service like 1 or 2 stars maximum, if you wish to enjoy your time in Manchester, stay far from that place. I asked the reception if they could host me in another hotel because they are part of a business group. About the renovation, that will take a long time.

One of the worst hotels I’ve ever been in, the room was large but the heating didn’t work so the room was freezing, there was stains all over the seats the decor was very dated, the shower tray was disgusting, went down to the “restaurant” for food which was very bland and noticed that most of the tables are coffee tables so you basically have to slouch over to eat your food. How this place can call itself a 4 star Marriot is beyond me, I was glad to get away the next morning. Avoid at all costs.

Blast from the past... Dingy rooms from the 70s. Hopefully the current renovations underway will bring the place to today's standard.
