Despite lacking transparent prices next to the food items, this cafe offers a medley of tasty baked goods, grain bowls, toasts, benedict’s, and warm beverages. We ordered the Avocado Benedict and the Maison Grain Bowl, both exceptional options. Please do integrate pricing into the menu, and a large percentage of these reviews will pivot positively!
Always lite, but yet fulfilling & delicious!
Employees on the phone, not paying attention to customers or talking with other employees. I observed some fruit flies and the coffee tasted awful. If you don’t have a lot of things to offer at least serve a good coffee. I felt like waisted my time and my money.
Have to agree with the negative comments. I tried this place 3 times before posting this as I like to give second - and third - chances, but when other people notice the rude staff, the incredibly long wait time for coffee that is delivered as I finish my meal, then I know I'm not imaging things. And no, I'm not a sad, angry person as the owner likes to deflect back to the customers who list bad comments here. I just think restauranteurs should give their customers the best service and food they can - the best dining experience they can - or apologize and promise to do better. Nice decor, but I can do without snotty staff (and the salty owners) who honestly don't care about the customers. There are places in New Haven that DO care - like the ones on Whitney Ave.
Buen servicio y buena comida aunque los precios son algo altos
I have been to Maison Mathis before their remodel and always had a pleasant experience. Since the remodel and rebrand, the atmosphere and quality of service have significantly declined. I ordered a iced 12oz latte which was very watered down. I politely asked a manager for a remake with less milk and was given a rude refusal to remake the drink and a brag about how they make the “smallest coffee in town.” They did come over to my table 10 minutes later to give me a burnt espresso. I do appreciate a gesture but will not return.
It was quite packed, but I didn't expect to wait 30 minutes for a simple coffee. The people there are incredibly slow. It's super full and they're moving like sloths! That would be totally fine with me, if the coffee would compensate for that. But the coffee wasn't good either. The americano was sour, not tasty.
