Magpie was my choice for a Saturday morning treat. When we arrived we were welcomed and told that we could sit downstairs. We found a sunny spot by their large glass garage doors. Magpie decor is a bit eclectic which makes looking at the artwork fascinating. For breakfast we ordered the omelet and hash browns; and the gluten free pancake topped with fruit and a side of bacon. Everything tasted absolutely wonderful! I have never had such a great tasting gluten-free pancake! I will be back for another sometime! The service was friendly and more than happy to correct mistakes. The only downside of the Saturday morning visit was my tea. As a tea lover, I was looking forward to trying a new-to-me tea. Sadly, the water served to make the tea was only warm the first time, and barely warm the second time. Finally, the last service of water was from a hot pot- and that cuppa was decent. I know it’s small, but it’s such a simple thing that can be corrected easily and makes the breakfast complete. ☕️
Goid foods and services. Great atmosphere
Great discovery while looking for food after the long drive from Chicago. Super cute vibe, great building! Fantastic coffee. The specials were delicious and the portions huge. We had Asparagus Strata, Reuben sandwich, MacNCheese, and Squash Lentil Stew. We tried Shankys Whip whiskey because it was an ingredient in the chocolate stout cake. Awesome! We'll have to come back in summer when the Market is out back. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian friendly Parking: It might be trouble when busy Wheelchair accessibility: We appreciated the entry ramp to the restaurant, but getting downstairs to the bar would be difficult.
My favorite brunch spot in Rockford. Coffee is excellent. Classic breakfast options with a few house specials that are incredibly tasty. Servers are attentive- we always have Graham downstairs and he's a joy. The environment is super cozy!
They were only serving at the lower level during our visit. I was very disappointed because of the great reviews I read. The food was very underwhelming and very small portions. The fries were fried so much there wasn't much to them but a crispy exterior. The wait time for our food was extremely long for being at 1 of 4 tables with patrons. Also, NOT baby friendly...no high chairs, no bathroom changing station, and all the stairs. Someone reviewed said they were! This place does charge a 3.5% non cash fee for anyone wanting to use credit/debit card.
