The portion is large and the taste is rich and sweet. It tastes different from the Basque I've had before.

Great food! Steak was just delicious. Nice service without feeling overbearing. Great selection of non alcoholic cocktails! Nice addition to their drinks menu. Don't forget to try the dessert at the end. ;-)

Great food and altogether good experience. I would, however, highly prefer if you’re not leading the pack with this service fee nonsense, with yours set at 15%, higher than the current going “market rate”. It’s totally fine to increase your prices, but this hidden negative surprise fee is not ok in general as an industry phenomenon, and please don’t be the leader of this inelegant solution to what is understandably a challenging environment for restaurants… I’m ok to pay up for quality, just not to be blindsided or tricked.

Lurra seems to have all ingredients to succeed but fails on executing with lack of attention to details. Overall rather disappointing experience. Basic ingredients are ok but the chef is not making the most out of it. The tomato bread was excellent, the jamon a bit dry. The filet was chewy most likely due the the way it was cooked (right out if the fridge or for too long in the pan on one side). Plate was cold and no question asked about how the filet should be served. Cheesecake is excellent and espresso ok Overall there is not much missing for the team to make this a great place.

Over the last 5 years we’ve been to Lurra many times and always been blown away by the whole experience. So we were really disappointed when dining there last night. There was zero engagement or rapport from the waiting staff, and the food wasn’t nearly as good as we’ve been used to. The octopus was not as tender, the portion size of the anchovies had been reduced and they can no longer justify the £6 per portion price. The sharing rib eye is now served rare on a sizzling plate for you to ‘cook’ yourself, and was tasteless and chewy. The cheeseboard and baked cheesecake were good, but not good enough for us to recommend Lurra again. Has management changed I the last year? Won’t be booking again.

I went to Lurra a few times in 2017-19 and now recently again in 2024. It is a pleasant dining experience with good to very good food, but the new pricing is way over the top and this brings the experience down from 4 to 5 stars to a mere 3. We had a low-key, low alcohol, week-night dinner for 2 and we spent well over £300. That just leaves a sour taste even though the food was delicious. The lamb (main to share), croquetas and burnt cheesecake were standouts. I also enjoyed the sides, however: £15 (+ 15% service charge) for a tomato salad, that is one large tomato sliced and dressed, is offensive. I have eaten as well or better for less than half the price tag (in central London) and for a fraction (elsewhere in England and Europe), so I will not be in a rush to come back.

The food was exquisite HOWEVER, the prices don’t match the quantity. You are paying prices of fine dining tasting menu for small bites. What bothered me the most is that we arrived quite early in the night and they claimed that the smallest fish they had was over 1.2kg; for £98 the kg and knowing we are two people of course there will be waste. The fish was also undercooked so that made it even worse. Paying £140 per person with no alcohol is crazy. The service is okay but once again for the price point it should be even better and faultless.
