Los Dos Potrillos Mexican Restaurant - Highlands Ranch

Took the family out to dinner last night (Tuesday 3/12/24). The Highlands Ranch store is usually our favorite. It was so incredibly busy that the service was very slow and the Carne Asada plate was gross and full of fat. I was told it would be grilled and it was not. Guillermo was our waiter and he was slammed and didn’t even have time to come by to see if we liked the food. He was gone so long from our table that by the time he came over I just had him toss it because my family was ready for their food to be boxed up. Very disappointing.

Only one option in Dinner menu for vegans/vegetarians which was surprising. They customize couple of additional items on request but not good options for such a popular restaurant. The service was good but the food was average (probably as it was not in main menu)

It was delicious and the food came out very quickly! Easy 5 star. I recommend if your haven’t gone yet

The buzz around Los Dos Potrillos (LDP) seems to be omnipresent. Mike Snell posted a simple question on Nextdoor (see the screenshot) that made me laugh and maybe sparked a bit of debate. True to form, the responses were a mixed bag, typical of Nextdoor discussions. So I thought it would be good to post another review about LDP on Google Maps. We visited Los Dos Potrillos on a Saturday evening; that definitely requires patience upon arrival. Despite the daunting wait time of over an hour, the food and service shone through and made it well worth it. For those that are not aware, LDP offers complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa is the kind of flavor-packed condiment I'd happily douse on everything if I had a large jar in the home fridge. Our order was a feast: a Cali burrito sans rice, steak fajitas (pro tip: request well-done veggies for an explosion of flavor), a bean burrito, and steak street tacos. The fajitas, with their veggies charred to perfection, and the rice-free Cali burrito, possibly the best burrito I've ever tasted, were the highlights. And let's not forget the margaritas—simply top-notch. Moses recomienda de todo corazón Los Dos Potrillos. It's a testament to patience being a virtue, especially when it leads to such a rewarding dining experience.

The food was very delicious. The only issue we had was with the service. Not that there was bad service, it just wasn't the best.

Our server changed our bill and our credit card called us. Only paying the resturant$30 and tipping himself $72
