HEY HONEY HAND ME THE SAUCE!! Lockharts was a place of hardship. A hardship of eating so many delicious THINGS. I was there for a celebratory event and so my mouth had the chance to meet mac & cheese, chicken, cow: cooked deliciously. The venue had a vibe like no other bbq place I had ever been to. I couldn’t be stopped, nor would I have wanted to. This place does nothing to tear itself apart. Excited for you to go. THANK YOU DETROIT!! Parking: Paid parking around. Not too shabby. Kid-friendliness: Lots of kids!
We got a kids meal, side salad and a Lockhart’s plate (which included 2 sides and various meats) we tasted the brisket (this was good, not great), pulled pork (wouldn’t recommend, there was a funny flavor), ribs (they were fine…but not much smoke flavor), sausage (this was delicious). The sides we got were cowboy beans and Mac n cheese. The Mac and cheese was sad - dry and crusty - no cheese pull at all, in fact it had to be cut with a knife to separate bites. The beans were alright. All in all it was a fine experience but we won’t be back. Our waitress was top notch and supplied our kiddos with crayons and coloring books while we waited 35 minutes for our food.
I had the brisket sandwich. It included a big wad of fat with unappealing raw tasting rub on it, and an end cut that I couldn't bite through. It was what I would describe as a small sandwich with a big price. I wouldn't get it again. I did enjoy the spicy slaw.
Great fast service, great BBQ and the best mac and cheese I've ever had!
