Lloyd's Restaurant

It had been years since last eating at Lloyd's, but since they were going to be closing soon, we thought it would be nice to go one last time. I'm not exaggerating when I say it was the worst restaurant experience I may have ever had. Upon entering, there was some obvious drama between the servers that continued throughout the visit with management involved at one point. Our server wasn't unfriendly, but she certainly wasn't trying to win any service awards. We ordered the hamburger steak, which came out lukewarm at best. I informed our server that the food was cold, and she stood there for a moment and then went to the kitchen. She returned and offered to remake it, which I declined. A manager never came out, and there was never an offer to take the meal off of the order or to discount it. I had no desire to argue about it, so I paid, and we left. Lloyd's probably holds some fond memories for some of you. If so, I would recommend keeping those memories and pick any other restaurant on 280 to eat at.

A deep, deep sadness came over me as I walked out. My family has been coming here since Lloyd's opened in 1937 starting with my grandmother. So since I was born I've been coming here. This is the second location since 1937. And the memories came flooding back. As always, the food was outstanding and the services personable. I'll visit Sylacauga location, but my heart broke with my maw maws favorite place closing.

Today's today October 15th 2023 Lloyd's restaurant will be closed forever it will be missed throughout the city and it's the oldest restaurant in Birmingham Alabama it was founded in 1937 we will be missed my family and my friends and the whole Community will be bad for the Birmingham area Lloyd's restaurant had the best hamburger steak I ever had in my life all I can say is memories are gone after today God bless everybody who ate there and please support today Sunday October 15th 2023 we will miss the landmark what I've heard they going to carry the building down and then be ashamed to see that go

Drove from Auburn to enjoy one last meal before they close. Great place and memories!

This location is now permanently closed. However, I have been eating there since I was very young. They just know how to do it. The food was consistently good, service was never lacking, and the atmosphere was always pleasant. They have another location well south of the one. Let's hope when I visit it, it's just as good.
