I've been going here for years, so I feel qualified to review. Everything from Liberation is consistently good. It's locally produced, and locally owned. The prices are fair. I do wish the burger would return, but other than that I have no complaints.
Such delicious food and I always feel so welcome
It's been a while since I ate at this place so I decided to order delivery. I'm happy to say this place is still great! It doesn't look like they have their Saturday taco special anymore, which is a bit of a bummer since it was phenomenal. The nacho plate is still very filling and so flavorful. Definitely can have leftovers. I loved their crossiant sandwich as well. I can't wait to revisit this place and especially check out their new arcade!
Overall Thoughts: Besides the Bacon Mac, everything else I tried here was eh… The seitan in the other sandwiches wasn’t seasoned enough and the flavors weren’t great. Otherwise, the staff were very nice and the food came out fast. It seems like most people do takeout here, but they have a couple of small tables in the back to dine in for small groups of 1-3. There’s also a sizable pop-up arcade at the back of the restaurant The prices are generally pretty reasonable (except for the $5 tiny cup of unseasoned steamed kale). Food I tried: - “Chicago Style” Italian Sandwich (3/5): Normally I love seitan, but I didn’t love the texture or flavor of the seitan here. The sheer quantity was overwhelming and it wasn’t seasoned well, so the flavors were very monotonous. I liked the soft bread, but that’s pretty much it. - “Chicago Style” Updog (3.3/5): The order comes with 2 Chicago-style seitan hotdogs. I preferred these over the Italian sandwich flavor-wise because you could taste more of the other ingredients in it besides just the overwhelming flavor of seitan. - Fried Bacon Mac (4.3/5): This was definitely the best out of everything I tried. It’s not too creamy or “cheesy” in texture, but the flavors are good and umami. These seitan bits had way better seasoning and flavor compared to those in the sandwiches. - Greens (3/5): Nothing crazy, just a small cup of lightly salted steamed kale. Pricing it at $5 is a little crazy though. — Price (relative to peers): 4.3/5 Food: 3.2/5 Ambience: 4.4/5 Service: 4.8/5 Overall Value: 3.5/5
Their donuts are amazing best vegan donuts in Chicago and that I've found. If you want a quick bite I also recommend the sausage wrapped in pastry puff. Vegetarian options: Technically the menu is all Vegan not just vegetarian
only tried their pastries and they were out of this world! favorites were their eclair and balaclava .
