Levain Bakery – Georgetown, D.C.

I just came back from France and I wanted this place to be amazing. Maybe I just set my sights too high. I bought three kinds of cookies, which are big and biscuit-like, too sweet and undercooked in the middle -- and two baguettes, which are very thin and overcooked (more like ficelle than baguettes, I suppose), but since they're wrapped fully in paper you can't tell before you buy them. All together I paid almost $30 for three cookies and two baguettes. The menu is very small, so cookies and bread are basically your only options. Staff are kind and fast, and the line moves quickly. Parking is a nightmare.

$5.75 per cookie. Like other said, you can share this cookie with one, if not 2 other people - it was so rich. We had the dark chocolate chip one and it was warm when we got it!

ידעתי שאבקר במקום הזה בניו יורק כי רציתי לבדוק על מה ההייפ. במזל בזמן סיבוב בגורגטאון נתקלתי במקרה בסניף הזה ולא היה תור בכלל! האם המחיר לעוגיה קצת יקר? כן זה קצת מעל 5 דולר לעוגיה. אבל-זה עוגיות שמספיקה ל2 אנשים זה אחד. 2 זה העוגיה הכי טעימה שאכלתי בחיי-רכה עם מלא שוקולד (לקחנו את הקלאסית) פריכה מבחוץ פשוט מושלמת ובכיף היינו אוכלים שם שוב

Les meilleurs cookies, à goûter absolument !

I can’t explain it. It’s simply unexplainable how good these cookies are. And let tell you unless you eat one of these cookies you will never understand what I’m talking about. They are gooey and melting your mouth upon biting into. The cookies have a hard outside, but yet a soft interior. My lord, these are good.
