The best ice cream anywhere. Workers are so happy and you can tell they move their job. Kid-friendliness: Great for kids.
I don’t take ranking beneath a “4” lightly, and I was incredibly disappointed in Leopold’s. It is hard to go somewhere solely because of the outstanding reviews only to have a very subpar and polar opposite experience. This place has it all: a tasty and quality product, the history, the overall atmosphere, the feel of going back in time…and then there’s the employees. Stronger customer service training and coaching would benefit the college-aged and younger people working behind the counter. I asked for an item off the menu outside, and the girl acted baffled by my request - as if she had never heard of the item before. This was quizzical since the sundae I ordered is one of the 1919 original menu items. I had to go outside and take a picture of the menu for her to know what to make. Her co-worker was unfamiliar as well. Once they finally started to prepare my simple request, I went to pay. The boy hardly acknowledged me. I would only return if more knowledgeable and qualified employees were there. To be treated indifferently and not true to the time period or legacy of Leopold’s made me realize I need to start setting much lower expectations. Please, at least try to make an effort to be accommodating, welcoming, and energetic for the tourists who travel miles to get there. The sundae was delicious, by the way.
Best Almond Honey & Cream!!!
Great service and so many creative flavors:)
We thought we would stop by and enjoy one of our local ice cream shops today. It was really very disappointing, at least from what I ordered. I was craving just an old-fashioned chocolate sundae . Vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, whipped cream, and a cherry . If I'm honest, I've gotten better hot fudge sundaes from McDonald's. The fudge was grainy, and it tasted funny and wasn't even hot. My wife got just a chocolate chip sugar cone ice cream and said hers was just good. Way overpriced for an ice cream adventure and want be going back anytime soon. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. But we will probably wait and buy ice cream at Kroger before spending 20.00 for 3 scoops.
I did some research prior to arriving in Savannah, so Leopold’s was already on my itinerary. There was a very long line when we came but it moved moderately fast. Despite the line, the employees greeted us with a warm smile and provided exceptional customer service. I got the honey almond and cream and peanut butter chippy. I liked the old fashioned glass they put in the ice cream in. It’s like transporting you back in time before there were paper cups for ice cream. The honey almond and cream was a little sweet from the honey and a nice crunch from the roasted almonds. Texture was smooth and each bite made you crave for more. The peanut butter chippy is recommended if you love peanut butter. The flavor was very prominent and you get a lot of chocolate chips with each bite. Prices were very reasonable.
