I moved away and just had the "best potato salad in town". I miss you Larders and your efforts to rade against the mediocrity and 'good enough ' chefs.
My sister and I went here for dinner. I got latke and matzo ball soup. My sister ordered brussel sprouts and a Reuben sandwich. My latke was very good! I liked the little crispies on top. It seems like every restaurant that I go to, that has matzo ball soup, has their own way to make it. This restaurant had a matzo ball that was like wet rye bread. It was good, but I'm not a rye bread fan. My sister really liked her sandwich! The corn beef was very tender and had good flavor. The brussel sprouts were pickled, so they tasted like big pickles. They were good, too. The service was very nice, but the food was expensive for what you get. If you are in the mood for something different, this is a good place to go!
It was great, the only problem I had was they plated the cantaloupe set in my pastrami sandwich. So it was like marinated in cantaloupe. Odd. Not a deal breaker though, the food that wasn't blessed in the holy cantaloupe water was glorious.
Pastrami is amazing along with the Oatmeal Cream Pie.
We absolutely love Larder! Anytime we have out-of-town guests, we swing by for an obligatory pastrami sandwich, pickle sampler, and fries! When it comes to dessert, the babka is to die for! You will not be able to resist eating the whole loaf in one day.
