UPDATE: WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2023, 3:03PM: A new item I saw today is slices of rolled cakes. There are two flavors: vanilla and guava. The vanilla looks like caramel (or, dulce de leche, in Spanish), but still, vanilla-flavored, and the guava looks like raspberry but definitely guava. Another change is the location of the pastries. The cheesecake slices, for example, are now in the display case closer to the back of the cafe. Other than these changes, I did not notice any other changes. UPDATE: WEDNESDAY, JULY 26, 2023, 2:25PM: I did not notice any changes. The staff remains professional and friendly, the food is, as usual, muy delicioso, and the cafe con leche the BEST in that area. UPDATE: WEDNESDAY, MARCH 8, 2023, 2:09PM: When I visited, roughly twenty minutes ago, I was pleasantly surprised to see that two table and chair sets have returned. Now, if customers wish to dine there, it looks like they can. UPDATE: MONDAY, AUGUST 15, 2022, 8:26PM: I was at La Unica Bakery, a few hours ago, after going to my primary doctor for a covid19 test. Earlier this year, I learned that La Unica Bakery no longer requires a minimum of $10 if paying with a credit card or debit card. Also, if one pays with cash, they are charged less than if they pay with a card. This is another place that, if their prices increased, I cannot tell. Finally, it gives me great peace of mind to see employees in a business that serves the public continue to wear face masks, and to do so correctly. Some of the BEST cafe con leche in Union City, NJ. Also, the pastries, especially the guava pastries are muy delicioso!! I visited today, Wednesday, February 16, 2022. Still no indoor dining, still everyone who enters must wear a race covering; after all, the covid19 pandemic remains in effect. However, I found out that there are currently not serving boba tea. Also, there is no longer a minimum on credit card payments. My purchase came out to $6.10 and I was still able to pay with a card. In the meantime, I strongly recommend any of their sandwiches, and the beef and egg, as well as guava and cheese empanadas. Of course, their cafe con leche remains one of the best in Union City, NJ. Wheelchair accessibility: The entrance has an incline, so one can wheel up.
After some time of not being to this bakery, I decided to treat myself and go here because I remember the pastries being very tasty and great price, but when I got there this time is was a disappointment to see that there were new people which by the way were very rude and lacked customer skills , the oriental lady looked at me up and down like I was from planet Mars and the pastries were definitely not like I remember. Need to say I would go somewhere else to spend my money in addition I will ward away friends and family as well --
