We walked in my wife my daughter .While sitting on a table , I asked direction to reach the men’s room . A waiter , with a rough attitude, pointed me the direction … I thought was just an incident … after I came back from bathroom, I choose the wine and was calling a waiter to order a bottle .. it happened to be the same waiter , who saw I was calling him , and with a clear consistent gest , was kind of telling me to calm down and be patient .. but again with arrogant behavior , I just told him this is not the way you address to client and kept insisting he was right ... We just stood up with my family and left .. unbelievable !!! To be avoided !
The restaurant is very nice and romantic, once inside you might forget you are in busy and loud NYC and instead feel transported to an Italian city. The food and drinks were amazing. The service was attentive and friendly.
Great place in midtown highly recommend if you are in the area.
Loved the food at La Masseria. As a huge fan of ravioli, I must say it exceeded my expectations. The complimentary fresh bread is worth it too. Would definitely visit again!
Loved it! Pasts was cooked perfectly
The pastas were well flavoured. I thought the blueberry risotto combination didn't really work though, & the pastas were cooked slightly too soft. For the burrata, they only serve the some of inner liquid rather than the actual ball. Overall I didn't think it was good value. The service was off putting. We were a large group of 10 seated against the wall towards the back. They would constantly top up our water glasses if so much as 2 sips were had. We all agreed it was very uncomfortable. The waiters would squeeze themselves in & out of the narrow area behind us every other minute, for water we didn't need, hovering over us throughout the meal. It felt very distracting when we were trying to relax. They misheard our order twice. We ordered calamari, & they wanted to confirm if we only wanted one for the whole table. We quickly confirmed with each other and said yes, we're fine with just one. Then they came out with a second one, when we already had too much food. The second time my friend asked if there was dairy in the risotto. The waiter said 'there is, would you like us to take it out?' and she replied with 'oh that's fine, don't change it please, keep it as is'. They brought it out & had made it dairy free. She was really displeased with how it tasted. They seemed very eager, overzealous even & the lack of comprehension was frustrating. In general the waiters weren't very tactful & interrupted us a lot, it wasn't a nice experience.
If there is a better restaurant in NYC for Italian, I’d like to know because La Masseria and Fernando were fantastic.
