La Folie

Service and food was exceptional! John our waiter was attentive and the filet mignon was the best steak I've ever had! My partner had an amazing Duck a L'Orange as well!

My recent visit to La Folie, driven by its esteemed reputation, unfortunately fell significantly short of the anticipated culinary delight. The initial impression, set by the restaurant's inviting ambiance and elegantly arranged decor, suggested a promising evening ahead. However, the dining experience failed to reflect this initial promise. The main course, Duck à l'orange, was particularly disappointing. Overcooked, it lost its desired texture, and the sauce, which should have been bursting with citrus-infused notes, instead resembled a Peking duck sauce, straying far from the traditional flavor profile. The trend of unmet expectations extended to my husband's choice of pork chop with bourbon creme sauce. While well-presented, the dish lacked the intricate flavor depth characteristic of such a classic. The pork chop itself was under-seasoned, and the bourbon creme sauce, expected to be a savory delight, was oddly sweetened. Even the side dishes, including the green beans, were devoid of flavor, fading into the background unnoticed. A significant part of our dining experience was our dissatisfaction, reflected in both my husband and I leaving over half of our meals uneaten. When we brought the lack of seasoning to our server's attention, they did compensate us for my husband's dish. However, this gesture was overshadowed by the fact that we spent over an hour without any engagement or response from the restaurant's staff, which added to our disappointment. In conclusion, despite its charming setting, La Folie did not live up to our expectations, especially considering its price point and reputation. The lackluster culinary experience, combined with inconsistent service, makes it difficult to justify a return visit to La Folie.

Excellent French restaurant in Lexington. I had the beef bourguignon as a recommendation from a French guy in our group and that was amazing. The carpaccio and beet salad were also a hit. Service was superb with the waiter making some great chokes to keep the good times rolling. Place is clean, well illuminated and great ambience. They have a nice and extensive selection of wines but also a full bar. Cocktails could be better but overall, this is a nice place to eat and have a nice dining experience.

Delicious food. Wonderful beef Bourguignon, full of beef,bacon,carrots,pearl onions,nicely seasoned and a tasty risotto. Fresh baguettes. Nice mussels. Food is very good. Service, well 15 minutes sitting with no acknowledgement, 30 minutes to get a cocktail, 2 hrs 45 minutes from beginning to end, I think that outlines the Service.

This is definitely a hidden gem in Lexington! my first time dining here and will definitely be coming back soon. The waiter was so kind and attentive. The food was exceptional. Attention to detail made the experience so much better.

The food was delicious and cooked perfectly. I would describe it as no frills comfort food. The portion sizes are huge. The staff was kind and attentive. The drinks were perfect.The atmosphere is an upgrade from the red decor years ago. I think it is a bit of madness to have such large portions. Smaller portions and a little more presentation on the food and it could rival other French restaurants (in taste, style and financially). Give the people what they want and make a little more $. The duck could be 2 dishes, lamb and scallops should be on the menu. Beef Bourguignon is perfect, just needs to be prettier. I would come back.

Delicious mussels and escargot! A very elegant and classy atmosphere. I would highly recommend for a date night.

This restaurant is one of Lexington’s finest in my opinion. All of the food was exceptional, the service was great, and the atmosphere was luxurious. I would recommend this in a list of top 5 restaurants in Lexington to anyone. Great place, I will definitely be coming back!
