La Catedral Cafe - Little Village

Todo muy rico, buena atención y rapidez.

I had been to La Catedral about a year ago for the first time and was so happy to find a place with good chilaquiles in the neighborhood. This last visit was tough and I left feeling anxious when my morning was otherwise calm. I can tell they have focused so much on efficiency (which is great) but the focus can't only be in seating more people and forgetting that service still matters. The message was: order fast, eat faster, pay and go. I get it, restaurants are in business to make money, but when you are seating people so that they can eat at your establishment (not a drive through) part of the business is to treat them like they matter and are not just a $ sign and of course, make sure they enjoy their meal. After we were seated, our waitress didn't crack even a fake smile and quite literally just recited what we wanted and ran. I would never fault someone for trying their best because they are busy, the problem was that she was just rude. She rushed through our simple order when I would have otherwise ordered more food. At no point did she try to hide that she just wanted to take orders. There is such thing as being efficient without being rude. At some point I had to flag her down and asked to add something to our order, she just responded with an "it's coming!" when it was my first time mentioning it, and what I asked for never came, and neither did she until it was to bring our check. When we start seeing and treating people like dollar signs, you start to lose the essence of a great special place and simply become a fast food joint. I hope it turns around, because it was feeling like a factory where I was part of the operations and it wasn't enjoyable. I will say that the older gentleman that brought out our food was extremely polite.

Los chilaquiles están muy ricos. No pruebes solo los tradicionales. Es mi restaurant favorito para almuerzos y por lo tanto ya he provido todo los chilaquiles del menú. Me encanta comerlos con un chocolate y a veces jugos. La verdad todo está rico. I'm just sad that they keep opening new locations, but all of them are on the south side. We need one on the north side. But this place has never disappointed us...
