I've been traveling to mainland Honduras for nearly 40 years, and my wife is Honduran. We had business in Tampa and I happened to find La Casa Catracha while searching the area we would be near. This place is authentic Honduran food from the mainland. It isn't island Honduran or Garífuna, this is what you would find in the true Spanish cities like Tegucigalpa, Chulateca, Danli or other inland areas. Everything tasted fresh and the portions are huge (I'm a big guy and six hours after eating, I am still stuffed but looking forward to the leftovers tomorrow). My wife had Enchaladas, while I had Patistas. They could have had a bit more spice but that is a personal choice and each table had both red and green El Yucateco picante sauce. My horchata was fresh, cold, and made from scratch. Service was excellent, friendly, engaging and attentive. Meal prices are in line with most chain places at $12-$18 but expect to get two meals due to portion size. When we are in Tampa again in a few months, we'll be going back.
