The ladies behind the tills were very welcoming and polite and cheerful, they were informative regarding questions we asked about the area. The food wasn't great to be honest. The fish was ok, but the chips were dry and crispy as it they were from the day before, and reheated. When the young blonde girl came over to ask if everything was okay with it meal, we had said that the chips were not so good. And her reply was 'Yes they are usually like that in the morning' What an answer! Surely they should make their chips not like that 'in the morning' !!

Atmospherically speaking, I found the café on the pier entrance very claustrophobic with a cramped dining area. We were sat on a table for two . The table was so tiny that it was cluttered when the meals were brought in with no 'elbow room'. Not ideal for disabled customers with wheelchairs and rollators, as the walkways are so narrow and obstructed with baby trippers and the like. Table service was good, nothing wrong here. Has been refurbished since we last dined here. The standard of food was very poor. We ordered cod and chips for two, with two cups of tea, which came to over £30. It was just cod and chips - no extras. Cod and chips priced at £12.95 each !!. Not good value at all as the meal was served on children's sized plates with child size portions. The fish was good, but was ruined by the batter which was, quite frankly, awful and very chewy - the worst I have EVER tasted !!. All other additions were chargeable - like mushy peas (around £2), small soft roll - again around £2. Several years ago, a side ( mushy peas or side salad) and roll were thrown in, and the meal was served on adult sized plates - most probably different owners. So very disappointing, with poor value for money. There ARE better places than this, with tasty food and the all important requirement for 'value for money'. Sorry, but I cannot advocate spending hard earned money here. Will not return.....

Nicely refurbished staff were friendly the main reason I've given 3 stars is all the fish is now cooked in gluten free batter which just doesn't taste the same.

We came during the first weekend of the "season". Staff were lovely, food was fantastic, everything available. Previous reviews feel very harsh, nothing like our experience.
