My husband and I have lived in the Cypress area for about nine years now and one of the things we have always looked for is a decent sports bar, preferably with no smoking and good food. It took nine years, but there’s finally one. We saw there was a new place opening up around the corner from us and decided to give it a try. We weren’t disappointed. They have tables, both four and six person ones, an elevated bar style table seating, plenty of space at the actual bar and an outdoor area where smoking is allowed. Domestic beers on tap, but they do have a nice selection, as well as a nicely stocked bar and some original drinks, which are quite tasty as well. Right now they have a small menu, but that’s far from a drawback, as they have a California Burrito, which anyone from SoCal will recognize as a carne asade burrito, complete with fries! We both had that, and we were not disappointed in any way! It was delicious! And the presentation of it looked as good as it tasted! The decor was exactly as you’d expect of a sports bar. Plenty of tvs tuned to various sporting events, and as we were truly looking for a nice place to watch the Astros games, it was nice seeing more than one tuned to baseball. Plenty of jerseys and other sporting memorabilia, and I think its all Houston-centric. The staff was very friendly, and attentive, despite the size of the crowd. We had the pleasure of meeting the owners as well, and both Jay and Vanessa were delightful and very down-to-earth people. It’s nice to see the owners mingling, checking on, and getting to know their customers, something only found in a good neighborhood bar. And I think Koozie’s is well on its way to becoming just that. We will certainly be back.
