Very disappointed with how much decline there has been under the new ownership. Tried it today for the first time since change over and certainly won't be going back. 20 minutes wait for sausage and chips. When I got home I found chips were still cold in the middle. Food is expensive and portions are very small

Can’t recommend. Under new ownership with people from the Afro-Caribbean store next door apparently. Clearly not in the know when it comes to the chippy business and must get their act together to survive. Another classic case of a loved local place going to the tip, I’m afraid. As if the owners sitting behind the counter observing the staff over how many chips they scoop - and casually eating with their hands - wasn’t bad enough, the food must be sat there for hours before being packed for orders; everything is so hard and dry it’s painful. Two fish and chips and sides for £12 is a deal that was there before the changing of hands, but has now lost its meaning. It’s only one small portion of sharp chips and the fish being one that’s been cut in half… Peas are mostly shell. Curry sauce is chunky as if it hasn’t even been mixed. Somehow, everything was cold upon opening when home 5 minutes later. Bread rolls (muffins, baps; whatever you prefer to call em) clearly store-bought oven bottoms. I feel they’re just not trying. If they wish to turn it into a takeaway of their own culinary type I can respect that, but why offer fish and chips if your heart clearly isn’t in it? Cost cutting but raising prices doesn’t go down well. It honestly takes some effort to manage this level of lack of care in food. It’s a great shame as this little chippy was brilliant previously. A great loss to Blackley.

I went in today like i always do when I'm walking past for the fish and chips x2 2 sides special 12 quid. Been going in for years as far back as i can remember. Was the best chippy in blackley not no more. Even if i werent hungry id still pop in for chip cone and curry . I wasnt aware its got new owners, at first i thought oh new staff as i recall a month ago seeing job vacancie on window for staff. The food was over cooked the fish was cut in halve to make 2 really hard batter, the large chips was smaller then small and the small chips with the fish for 2 was a handful not funny but had to laugh and not cry having just spent 17quid for it to go in bin, chips were hard cold been there for a few hours. I was asked did i want a bag i had 2 chips a curry a peas and 2 fish all poorly wrapped mind and i knew they would end up on floor yes please i said she said they are 10p . Ive never been asked do i want a bag in a chippy I'm going to miss my chip cone and curry. devastated

New owners, the new people are lovely, but the food is just not the same. Chippy menu has been reduced massively and lots of things are unavailable. I noticed that the chips, scollops and sausages are also now over cooked.
